I don't have a season ticket, but today I have a ticket in the fan section to each of the remaining home matches (except for Pauli because it sold out before I had a chance to buy.)

My friends and I are on the lookout though for an extra ticket.

I've contact Holger and told him to check out the thread. Maybe he knows how you can get the tickets.

Hello VfL fans...

As an American teaching English abroad, I have really been enjoying my home for the year, the beautiful city of Osna, and in addition I've taken very quickly to the VfL. I've been to every home match since October and the away match in Ahlen (always Ostkurve, of course.)

I'm really excited for the second half of the season. The game against Duisburg has given me a lot of hope that things are coming together and that we've finally realized how to play with tempo. The majority of the Vorrunde the team just looked SLOW. No fire, no passion, and no movement when they didn't have the ball. The past few matches have looked better, so let's hope that the guys keep it going starting with Pauli.

If we could just get through the first 20 minutes without allowing a goal...

Alles für Osna! Lila-Weiss! :D

Well, welcome to the family!

I see you got infected with the VFL virus real quick, you even picked Arminia Bielefeld as the foe. Thumbs up for that! :D

I can't wait for the Rückrunde to start, the match against St. Pauli will be a great one, I think. With the thousands of Pauli fans and a jam-packed Ostkurve, the atmosphere will be massive. And it is an evening match, so a defeat is impossible.

Anyway, I will most likely attend the friendly against Hannover 96 tomorrow, despite the iciness. I don't expect a lot since it's just a midwinter friendly, but I need my weekly dosage of VFL. ;)

May I ask if you teach at a public school or at some kind of institute/company?

I teach at a Gymnasium about 50km north of Osna - the city is a Dorf, really. I lived there for a month but then moved here for a little more action, and it's safe to say I've found it!

I was thinking about going to the friendly against Hannover today also, but I'm not sure if I'll make it.

I posted this over in the YA section

I found this official fan song that was composed for Enochs upon his retirement

pBWf38nruo8

Here are the words, with my rudimentary translation in italics

Joe Enochs – Geboren um Fussball zu spielen
Joe Enochs – Born to play to soccer

Joe Enochs – Geboren um Fussball zu spielen
Joe Enochs – Born to play to soccer
Ein Kämpfer wie wir ihn lieben
A fighter the way we love him
Viel Ehrgeiz und Siegeswillen
Much ambition and the will to win

Hier in Osnabrück begann dein Traum
Here in Osnabrück you dream began
Als Urgestein bekannt, stark wie ein Baum
Known as a legend, strong as a tree
Und dein Spiel kam uns entgegen
And we your play suited us
Zur Not auch mal den Gegner legen
In a pinch you would take out the opponent
Angst das ist ein Wort das kennst du nicht
Fear is a word that is not in your vocabulary

(Chorus)
Joe Enochs (du Fussballgott), geboren um Fussball zu spielen (beim VfL)
Joe Enochs (you Soccer God), born to play soccer (at VfL)
Ein Kämpfer wie wir ihn lieben (die Nummer 8), für Ehrgeiz und Siegeswillen bekannt
A fighter the way we love him (the number 8), known for ambition and the will to win
Joe Enochs (du Fussballgott), bei uns wolltest du doch nur siegen (bei VfL)
Joe Enochs (you Soccer God), you just wanted to win with us (at Vfl)
Ein Mann für die Fans zum verleiben (die Nummer 8), im Mittelfeld ein Kämpfer
A man for the fans to fall in love with (the number 8), in midfield a fighter

Du kamst zu uns und warst sofort bekannt
You came to us and was immediately known
Über Hamburg, Pauli, aus einem fernen Land
From a faraway land via Hamburg, Pauli
Bei uns hast du sehr viel erlebt
You experienced a lot with us
Traumtor gegen Bayern hat uns bewegt
Your dreamgoal against Bayern moved us
Jetzt beginnt dein neues Lebensglück
Now begins the next chapter in your life

(Chorus) x 2

and here is a link to the Traumtor against Bayern, but I can't get it to play

I wasn't at the game today (thankfully) as I had to help a friend move, but losing 0:5 against Bielefeld hurts :(

Hopefully things are better on Friday against Pauli!

;)

Heard we had an Osnabruck fan win a halftime contest, and the fan was from.....

OHIO!!!

That fan may or may not have been me ;)

And this may or may not be a YouTube video I made of the experience.

Unfortunately my friend who took the video didn't know that you can't hold the camera sideways, so if you watch it you'll have to tilt your head (or monitor.)

Those 3 points yesterday were reaaaaaally important. Time to keep it going against Koblenz.

That's awesome.

I think Thomas was going for some dramatic effect.

What did you win?

I won a 110 year anniversary (1899-2009) VfL scarf. It's really nice and I haven't seen it in any of the fan shops yet.

I also won a sport bag from Herforder.

Woohoo!

When they started playing "Born in the USA" it brought a tear to my eye. He said it was a very emotional moment and everyone was crying. They love Joe in Osnabrück.

Posted this in the Yanks Abroad, but thought it needed to be here as well.

Got to talk with former DC United defender/midfielder Dane Murphy about his time at VfL Osnabruck so far. His take on the Joe Enochs testimonial game, day-to-day life in Osnabruck, and his chances at making the first team. Read here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/blog.php?b=4599).

Why do we have to make this season so interesting? Just got back from that game against Ahlen and can't believe what I just witnessed. I especially wanted to whack the guy from Ahlen in the face who scored the goal to make it 2:2.

I don't think we'll win in Duisburg, so it looks like it's the relegation match for us. From what I've learned about the VfL this season is normal - always making things exciting.

There's still hope but I agree you guys should have won today.
We were watching today and all cheering on you but it didn't help.

Still you guys should be strong enough to beat Paderborn or Haching in two games.

0-0 at the half. Paderborn has a more of the game but are playing a little more defensively than they normally do ...at least according to the commentator.

1-0 for Paderborn in the 79th.
