I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the 'other divisions' forum but I suppose the season is still going even if the league has finished.
Anyway

Jermaine Defoe has handed in a transfer request at West Ham. He'll be the first of many I'm sure.
And yes, I'm a git. :D

It was bound to happen. Just too bad they could not all stay to help bring the team back up next year.

That it does, but they've kept us up which is what matters. Unlike some other team who has the 7th highest wage bill in the country ;)

You are right. If we had taken care of business early in the season your band of mercenaries would be down and we'd be in the top 10.
Jackass Board!
Or, WHU Board turns down Defoe's request.

Yeah I saw that. He could have timed his transfer request better. Now the West Ham fans think he's just a twat. He'll still go.

Congratulations Bolton, i wanted them to stay up, so did nearly everyone i know, one of the reasons being the media sucking the arse off West Ham just because their a big London club. They paid no attention to Bolton, a traditional football who go about their business the right way, it's West Hams own fault for being so much in debt, why should we feel sorry for them like the media has been doing for so long?

Is that really the perception back home now?
Feeling sorry for them?
Or is it just because a once successful club has fallen on very hard times?
Back at the end of the '83 season--yeah, yeah, i know it's ancient history to most on here, but it happened all the same--Chelsea were involved in this exact same situation with Bolton. If we had gone down then it very likely would have been the end of the club as the financial situation was about as dire as it could get.We were due to play Bolton in our last away game of the season and all the hype, well what could be considered hype for a second division game that is :), was centered around Bolton, not their London rivals for survival.
Prenn, i've no idea how old you are, but do you remember this?

I think they feel sorry for us because we have a load of talent and a piss-ass board who couldn't sell heat to the Eskimos.
The WHU board is out of their depth, and the truly amazing thing is they are asking for a increase in their salaries. They are the highest paid board in the EPL or were. Now all their screwups have cost the club loads of money and soon our assets.

Fair play to Bolton, they stayed up on merit and West Ham have only themselves to blame.
All this 'mercenary' talk is just bollocks - they got the players to keep them up and played some decent football along the way.
And if I'm being honest I'd rather watch Jay-Jay Okocha than Trevor Sinclair anyway.

What's the word in UK press about who might come in for Defoe. Any word on Carrick and Cole heading out as well?
If Rangers win the SPL I wonder if Carrick would be interested in Champions League football next season.....

Actually most of the EPL is mercenaries now. Home grown stars are a thing of the past.

WHU turned down Defoe's request. Spurs, Man U and Arse are interested.
Cole sounds like he will stay. But with SGE calling him up to the England squad he may be given the advice to look elsewhere if he wants more caps.
Carrick: Should stay, needs a year to boost his confidence.

Most people forget that MUFC has O'Shea, Brown, P Neville, G Neville, Giggs, Becks, Scholes and Butt from their youth program, and Brian McClair's lads just won the FA Youth Cup again this year. Yes, Sir Alex has bought some some high priced foreign and domestic "mercenaries" but lets not forget that 8 titles in 11 years was done with a lot of home grown talent.

That is one of the things respect about Man U. I don't like them, but I would rather they win then Arsechuffinmonkeys.
of course I would really be happier if WHU had some leadership and not sold Rio, did sell Lamps and then sign a quality striker who can score goals without all the niggling whines and injuries.

Lamps is really glad you sold him too.
Perhaps he'll send a post card over from the nou camp or some such place next season to his old mates eh?
