i know...i know let's bow that we have soccer coverage at all. but, please....is it really that much to ask that on gameday the writers for the revs give readers "gameday" type articles?
frank's is clearly the worst.
what has it been....
5 articles in a row mentioning booing?
10 articles saying how the revs have 6 home games of their first 10..."need to capitalize on a favorable schedule"?
15 articles in a row that tells the attend. for the mls cup match? (maybe this actually helps...just tired of seeing it every story)
every article this season mentioning jmm's presence giving optimism to the fans?
p.s. don't get me wrong...i am truely thankful that "pragmatc", "resourcefulness", and "brazil" don't appear in the text.....there's 2 of these that i've "collected" so far this season.
however, its like the same silly article written over and over again. personally, i think this does the team and the sport a huge disservice. if every article looks and sounds the same then it really does give the appearance that there are no new stories...no new angles...nothing but the same ol same ol.
shouldn't there be some gameday "notes", "stats", "tidbits"?. some breakdown of d v forward matchups...mid matchups? geez...fda didn't even mention ruiz in the article. wouldn't that be like a pats v vikes article not mentioning moss? or, a current celts gameday article not mentioning kidd?
look, all i'm trying to say is that this is a midweek article and format. i think (would hope) the sport, writers, and fans are at the point where when a match is played about once/week that a true "gameday preview" type of article be developed. it does not have to be huge or anything....just something that give fans going to the match (or not) a taste of what they'll see. [maybe fda has no clue..i don't know?]
btw....same goes to the herald to a lesser degree (at least gus talks about different rev players from time to time) and i don't have any real beefs with the post match articles/notes.
