With the exception of the Celaya-Pumas game, every match had a good pace to it. I was very surprised to see most of the players in great physical condition. Just about every goal was scored in the 2nd half which indicates that the players were still hustling. With the WC and the long vacation, i expected them to be a little slower...but i was wrong.. which is a good thing.
This may be 1st game jitters..but they need to finish better... they blew a lot of golden opportunities...
I dont see how Cruz Azul lost that game... they put an onslought...ketp attacking and attacking.....but just couldnt find the net...
Trejo is screwing it up... he is catering to Abreu... Abreu has no business bitching at his teammates for not giving him perfect passes in the air. He needs to be more like Zepeda, Palanecia, or even Pinhiero.. just get in thier opponents face and cuase turnovers..
Lavolpe is also catering to Cardozo....big mistake..

I saw the Veracruz vs Morelia game. It looks like Morelia will have a hard time. Their defence looks weak yet they have a pretty good attack. managed to make a brief comback.
Morelia looks like it can only improve. I hope that playing in three tournaments at once doesnt affect their condition. I liked how Bofo played.
I also watched the Cruz Azul vs Tecos game. Its nice to see that Uribe has finally got Tecos playing like a Team. Trejo hasnt shown anything new. I dont expect Cruz Azul to be a serious candidate for the Liguilla although they have a strong enough team to win it, like the Brasileiros in the WC..

me gusto mucho el ritmo de juego de atlante vs. monterrey
pasarella is very entretaining in the side line!

P.S. Donde ching@dos esta "The babes of the world cup" thread?

a lot of good games.... again.. i was surprised that most of the games had a good rhythm to it. Being the first game and all of the season... the players seemed to be in good physical condition... most teams were able to string up consecutive passes...
Things that I noticed...
* faster pace
* most of the goals came of headers
* Most teams played a wide open game (which i think is good and bad) I think we need to our midfielders to play the middle more and create as they go along. When you have a creative midfielder.. the field opens up more and the wings are usually open...

Word, rdl: 'Loco' needs to knock it off and get to
work. Was very disappointed in the result, but, I
still feel if they keep playin' like that, the gols
will come.
I also liked the wide-open nature of the games and
the pace - very exciting, esp. for my Chivas
pals who came over to watch the match yesterday :D

I think you're referring to Rodrigo "El Pony" Ruiz:

He is one of their key players.

No doubt... when you attack and attack like that.. its just a matter of time before they start to sink in.. but what I did not like about that game was how Abreu kept bitching at his teammates... That Argie (Masserro) worked his ass of.. Palencia was just phenomenal.. Did you see how he ran half the distance of the field and stole the ball for the defender near the corner area.... Pinhiero was not his usual self.. but still effective. Zepeda is starting to get it back.. Brown needs to buck up more and play a little bit more physical.. he can get by with finesse alone.. but if he puts a little bit more UMphhh in his game... hes a sure starter on the national team. That is why he lost his starting spot in the WC. WHen he made his debut in 2001.. he was thrown into the wolves during the Copa Libertaodres.. and that is when he came to his own... after that.. i guess it got to him.. he moved up the ranks real fast.... Him not playing a single minute in the WC was a wake up call.
Cruz Azul has so much depth.. you have Victor Gutierrez and Tomas Campos coming off the bench... both National team players... Well..Gutierrez should be... Campos in my mind shouldnt..
I was real surprised with the pace. It was fast considering it was the 1st game of the season... Part of that has to do with the fact that there are more games played in the short seasons. Many people believe that the quality of the MFL was better when they had the traditional seasons because teams played together for a lot longer period and got used to another... It has some valid points... but the thing is.. with the shorter season... you have to play more games...eventually.. you will get some chemistry within the squad. Another reason may be that the players are getting use to the physical demands that the MFL requires.. After America won the championship, EL Misionero Castillo went back home (Argentina) and when he arrived at the airport..their were a lot of reporters interviewing him.. one of the things he said was that he was surprised at the speed and physicalness of the MFL. He said that many arrive and leave within a couple weeks because they cant cut it... Take this preseason for instance.. When Pasarella's reinforcements arrived in Acapulco.. they could not hack it. THe heat was too much for them.. After practices..those 2 guys would go back to thier rooms and rest.. while the rest of the gang were out by the beach playing volleyball, boozing it up :D, and drinking Corona.. When their preseason was over... they had to get use to the altitude in MTY. Just imagine when they have to go to Pachuca or Toluca or Mexico City? Playing at that altitude and play a a fast pace..... its hard. Another thing Castillo said was that the Mexican clubs were not given the respect they deserve because.. not only do they play their league, they have to play CONCACAF cups, and on top of that.. play the pre pre, the pre, and the libertaodres... Just imagine... traveling to MTy then back to Morelia then to Chicago, then to Buenos Aires, and back to Mexico City then back to Morelia.... my respects to those clubs... not even the EURO clubs travel that much... But like i said... the kids are well aware of the physical demands of the MFL and they are used to it.. they know that if they want to play CONMEBOL Cups..they will have to sacrifice a lot..

Thanks for the 411 on Brown, cuz I did wonder why
he got left off the Seleccion.
