Toluca went to Peru without head coach Américo Gallego and 8 regulars. Assistant coach and mostly reserves will try to stay unbeaten in Cusco. Cienciano is playing well at the start of new year, 4 wins without a single conceded goal in 4 games in their domestic league, which is not on the level of Mexican league though. Their best year was 2003, when they won Copa Sudamericana. Cienciano have good home record, as they play at high altitude of Cusco, but that won't be such a big problem for Toluca, who play at high altitude as well, although not as high as Cienciano play at. In normal circumstances, I would bet on Toluca for sure, even their weakened squad could cause big problems for Peruvians, but Cienciano's chances to win are improving considering Toluca's absences;
