The Toon would struggle to beat either of those teams sadly and I thought I added you to the "No Fly List"?
My fake beard and extremely convincing french accent got me through

I wish I had known you were around, I am only 2 hours from Chicago.
I'll be sure to say next time. I had a great time in Chicago though

In most other leagues around the world the Columbus Crew would be seen as the Victors of MLS (http://blackandgoldstandard.com/?p=411). However, we have a little thing called the playoffs to handle.

When are we going to GET RID OF THE PLAYOFF SYSTEM??

As soon as they:
Go to a fall/winter/spring season
Go to one table instead of divisions
Go to a relegation/promotion format with the MLS/USL.
In other words, never.

Support the Revs man - the most consistently good (and agonizingly close) team in MLS. Don't support DC or NYRB whatever you do!
As far as your opinion that "MLS is shite" I'd suggest you'd have the same opinion about the SPL also. The level of play is actually really similar and a good MLS side could hold their own with Celtic or Rangers any day. I was at the Revs-Celtic FC game in 2006 so I have an apples-to-apples comparison. So call it shite, call Scotland shite too, your call.

Who is this guy talking to? And where did he come from? And why hasn't this already been deleted? Supports Revs and Liverpool, could it be any worse?
Apples to apples? It was a friendly game guy.
Pure shite.

Great post. I happen to think the SPL is horseshit but I don't use a pre season friendly to make my argument.
For the record: ******** Boston! I ********ing hate that city.

So...who gets the second bid to the CCC now? NYRB for losing the final, or whoever was second-best in the regular season?
City Dave

Second best in the regular season, the Supporters' Shield runner-up, Houston Dynamo. But the RedBulls get in because they made it to the MLS Cup Final, and DC gets the Open Cup Spot.
Oh, and I figure I'll put it in here because it's US based. But my local USL team won the championship this year and was promoted to USL1! We can't wait for spring to hit. The Green Army is going into recruitment mode, also. So, if any of you out there are going to be in the Cleveland area over the spring or summer let me know, we'll take in a match.
Oh, and before you ask, there isn't promotion and relegation in the USL like that in other countries. There are provisions for successful teams to move up and failing teams to drop down, but it's not completely based on team performance, there are financial considerations as well.

Talking to whoever was seeking an opinion of which MLS team they should support!
I came over to this board because I'm considering grad school in Newcastle and was going to find out some insight into the city from Newcastle supporters. I saw the MLS thread in NSR and figured I'd give that a shot. I guess I should have expected to get savaged without stating I came under a flag of truce first :o.
As far as the "pre-season friendly" it was, however it ended in a 1-1 draw. My larger point is, taking friendly into consideration, it wasn't like Celtic played the Revs off the field. In fact they made a bid for Shalrie Joseph the next transfer window so looks like they like "shite" Rev players also. :D

We sacrifice Liverpool supporters in the Bigg Market every Friday night. We call it "carousel" and think that is the only thing that can return Keegan to us. If you have a perm you'd be the first one we chose.
Its a class city if you like drinking and football. Not so great if you're an outsider and you like comprehensible English and decent weather.
Here's a tester for you:
"How man ya scouse yank man. Yee can shove yer five mugs up yer jacksie bonny lad."
You'd get that every other day...

Haha well I love drinking and football so no worries there, but I'll make sure to avoid Bigg Market Fridays then! :) I appreciate the honesty!
The scouser stays under wraps much like being in the witness protection program while studying there (should I get in). However, the irony is Michael Owen was my favorite player for the Reds nearly 10 years ago when I started supporting them and now he's with Newcastle, go figure. Interesting you said they don't like outsiders..Newcastle Uni talks about the friendliness of the uni and the city, yadda yadda which attracted me there. Anyways, thanks much man!

Nah we're a pretty friendly people, unless you're from Sunderland. I just meant you won't be able to understand a word anyone says. If this forum was all voice messages I'd probably get a lot of "what?" messages and would have never reached the high eminence of moderator.
Its a good Uni too if you're talking about Newcastle, although Northumbria isn't bad either.
We're friendly towards the yanks, if they ever dare venture this far North (and for the love of God don't say we're Scottish). The only students who get trouble are the "Nigel" and "Tarquin" brigade. Do you pronounce 'grass' as 'Graaarse'?

Glad to hear Newcastle University's considered a good school and that Newcastle is indeed a friendly city toward we yanks, I was looking for sort of "3rd party" validation as I know it's rated well among UK schools. From the football perspective, I'd support Newcastle over Sunderland any day thus why I'm here and not on their board. Being from Boston, we can appreciate the incomprehensible English concept as plenty of people from other parts of the States have a tough time understanding us. Hell, I can't understand other Bostonians sometimes and I grew up here. :D

If RevsLiverpool talks like the Boston Teens from SNL, no Geordie will understand him either.
Maybe you should get a good phrasebook... like the famous Hungarian one.

BOUNCY BOUNCY BOUNCY!!!
I'm not sure which reference I like better, Monty Python or freakin' Logan's Run!
Heh, I love Newcastle supporters.
