Saw a few ex-toon players tonight in Columbus as the Crew took on West Ham in a friendly before next weeks All Star game. Not sure if Bellamy is the fastest man I've seen with my eyes, or if the Crews reserve team defense (including Ezra) have concrete boots.

Bellamy always did have the speed of a whippet - its the only reason he still has all his teeth. His off the ball movements pull defenders all over the place and generally leave them browning their shorts, its pretty impressive when you see it live. SBR coached him on that - Martins is even faster but doesn't have the "football intelligence" to use it to good effect. FFS someone teach Martins how to do it.

Of the crowd trouble, how 1980s is that?

That's a damn shame that happened at an MLS match.
Fan passion is key but if that's the kind of crap that's going to come along with the growth of our beloved sport, here in the U.S, then they need to just shut the thing down and we can all go back to watching the Premiership, Bundisliga, Serie A to get our soccer fix.
The next time that happens they should take all offenders out to the parking lot and beat them with rubber hoses until they're bledding from the ears.

If you can believe it, this has been completely overblown by local, national(USA Today, AP, ESPN), and international(Sky) media. The local fishwrap writer Mitchell pretty much covered what happened (http://blog.dispatch.com/crew/2008/07/disorderly_conduct.shtml). Only one arrest and a bunch of bystanders. aka not a Riot.

Funny thing is that during American Football there are fans in many cities who get into it with free beer showers and some face massages. Heck the Eagles had a court in their old stadium.

Problems at American sporting events have never even approached the true scumbag nature of what goes on in Europe or South America.

Like I said, if that's what's going to accompany the growth of the sport here then no thanks; pull the plug on the whole thing and we can funnel all of our passion for the sport into the National team like those of us older folk did up to 1996.

Yeah, some of us did, but most of us didn't even realize that the schools even HAD soccer programs.
The only reason I know that mine did is because the Great Alexi Lalas played at my fine institution.

Ban this guy immediately.

It also incorporates the magnificant Tab Ramos, who was my idol while playing.

And South Jersey, which is where I live, is closer to Philly than it is the dump that is New York City.

Who would you like me to root for, the Red Balls? mwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
