1. Truth
2. He could be better than he already is.
3. See, that would've been cool.

I agree that he could get better if he played in Europe but I have to say he's very good right now.

I watched Claudio Lopez hit a 40 yard bending through ball from the left touchline to the right of the 18 yard box that hit Jack Jewsbury in stride for the first goal. You don't see that too often.

I've got to rank Houston as one of the top 3 worst fan bases in the MLS. They are incapable of having a simple discussion without having it deteriorate into a name calling fest nor are they able to simply argue a point using facts or observations. Not to mention they have a pretty big sense of entitlement for getting a pretty decent team handed to them 2 years ago. It's not like they had to start from scratch.

Houston is up there with DC United and Chivas USA in my book as of now.

One thing hindering me from being a DC United fan is the mass amounts of Spanish-language influence among the fanbase. Barra Brava, "Vamos United!" etc etc. You're not in Texas, get that Spanish crap out of here. I assume there's a lot less Spanish influence in Columbus, which would be my other choice.

Not that I have anything against the Hispanic. But when you're chanting, I want to understand WTF you're saying.

Considering the source, a Galaxy fan, that counts as a compliment.

ToonUSA are you going to the "SuperClassico" on Saturday?

Oh, the irony.

And how Houston ranks worse than Dallas, Colorado, etc., in your book amuses me.

There's quite a few El Salvadorenos in the fanbase.

Well if you'd been a good little boy and learned spanish like the rest of us you would understand. :p

Irony of what? I'm perfectly capable of doing that and have demostrated it on many occasions. You were the one trying to argue something non-tangible as a reason for Donovan not being the best American player ever, and to mask this you changed the thread title to insult him.

Dallas and Colorado aren't great, but they overall have less ********wits than Chivas, DCU, and Houston.

Edit:

I give you exhibit A:

Encouraging fans to vote against a player in a meaningless Goal of the Week poll. That's why you lot are lame.

As I've said in the politics forum, you can post any link to substantiate anytihng you want, doesn't make it accurate or true.

And I never once even tried to argue Donovan's standing among US Soccer players. Why can you not get that through your thick skull?

Capable of dealing in fact and logic my shiny metal ass. You can't read a post properly even when it's written 16 different ways and mask this by insulting people who think remotely negatively about your precious Landycakes.

Seriously, as a Nats fan and a Gals fan it's fine to want him to do well and think he's a good player and all, but get off his ********ing nuts ffs.

Now that's a proper use of irony. :D

I've been beyond done with this shit about 15 times now. Maybe BW should close the thread until things calm down and we can actually talk about things MLS-related other than how LD pwnz all and anyone who doesn't think that is a total n00b (1 @m t34 1337 h@xx0rz, n0?). Or better yet, maybe people can discuss MLS in the US forums and keep all the mindless back and forth (of which I'm guilty as well) in one place with all the other mindless US Soccer chat. ;)

Arguing that he "doesn't have the drive to be a great player" isn't a condemnation of him? You didn't directly argue his standing, but you made it pretty clear you don't think that highly of him.

Capable of dealing in fact and logic my shiny metal ass. You can't read a post properly even when it's written 16 different ways and mask this by insulting people who think remotely negatively about your precious Landycakes.
Written in 16 different ways? How many ways do you have to write something not even remotely tangible and still not understand you can't prove it? I guess the answer is 16.

Insulting people? If you're referring to the post-game discussion you were the one who began firing off the insults Mr. Moderator.

Seriously, as a Nats fan and a Gals fan it's fine to want him to do well and think he's a good player and all, but get off his ********ing nuts ffs.
If defending a player I respect from what I feel is unwarranted criticism then I guess I'm guilty. Lock me up.

There's no need to close the thread. If you don't feel you can handle the discussion feel free to excuse yourself. BW is perfectly capable of regulating this thread on his own. Now, if you can put aside your childish exaggerations I'm sure you'll enjoy the MLS discussion I foresee in the future.
