Just seems like ol' fashioned ribbin' to me.

I do smell a new chant at the HDC though.

DO-NO-VAN!
Rock you like a hurricane!

Not too sure the Yanks have totally picked up on the name-association chanting just yet. But clever, yes.

Ex-Mag Laurent Robert got his first goal via a free kick as TFC won 1-0. Hardly a classic... but it went in via some dodgy keeping.

For no real reason at all I'm starting: (Drum roll please)
BECKHAM Vs ROBERT MLS FREE KICK TALLY 2008

Robert

Anyone care to predict who'll come out on top by the end of the season?

I'll go for Becks purely because he'll get more FK opportunities as MLS eventually enacts their version of the Jordan rules. :D

Oh, and someone rep this guy too, for being willing to talk about something other than Landycakes.

Your MLS goal leader (5 goals in 4 games) and best American forward and midfielder (so says Bruce Arena).

Anybody watch the Chicago - KC game yesterday? Great match. I'm really impressed with the level of play so far this season and Blanco has to be one of the best signings ever next to goldenballs.

I have a few friends who are big Fire fans and will not support them until Blanco is gone. They will admit he is good, but still hate his guts.

Its only because I don't really have an opinion about him one way or another.. its like being at a party and everyone's talking about a TV show or movie you haven't seen .

It's weird to root for him after so many years hating his guts. But he shows a level of commitment and determination on the field that is unparalleled in MLS. I admire that in him. He could've just come over and coasted and cashed his checks but he didn't.

This guy's saying nothing new.

Donovan preferred life in the United States. Is that really such an awful thing, to enjoy your country and prefer it? [...] And yet, lots of people punish him for it.

It's not that f*cking simple!! Leave Germany, fine, but at least try plying your trade in some other European countries. THEN if you still don't like Europe and want to return to the states, okay, at least you gave it a legit try.

Imagine if Yao Ming played basketball for a living in China.

Imagine if Yao Ming played basketball for a living in China.New or not it's still true.

1. He's only 25 so he still has time.
2. Why is it so important to you that he plays in Europe?
3. He did almost go on a January loan to Pompey two years ago but would have been locked out of MLS until the end of that season due to differing transfer windows, so the deal was canceled by the league (apparently).

But that doesn't matter. We all make decisions about our lives, our careers, our families, etc. We have all earned that right as human beings, and so has Donovan. It's incredibly selfish of people who wish to live the soccer sweet life vicariously. Donovan doesn't owe those people a thing.

So the legion of Donovan bashers, upset that he's not their chosen soccer savior, unfairly devalue his accomplishments. Past machismo-inspired silliness and misguided expectations, none of the classic Donovan criticisms stands up to scrutiny.

Thread title?

Landon Donovan facts (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=644340) for the "Fair and Balanced" crowd that might not get enough in their daily diet of truthiness (http://www.wikiality.com/Truthiness).

Actually, can we change the title back? Ever since you changed it that's all we've been talking about. It seems a bit odd, but we're actually ON topic for once. It's kind of disturbing....

1. Truth
2. He could be better than he already is.
3. See, that would've been cool.
