I just think that team would be the most unstoppable. Messi and Ronaldo are both individually brilliant players, but I think this team is more balanced. Torres creates goals out of nothing, Ibrahimovic as a hold-up fulcrum, Rooney chasing defenders and providing a shooting threat from far out. Hard to imagine a pair who would keep better possession than Xavi and Deco, and Essien absolutely dominates when healthy.

[QUOTE=#1 Feilhaber and Adu;13894024]What makes these players the greatest ever; is that they can do it all. Pele was a CAM but can get by 6 players repeativly and score goals over 1,200+. Maradona close to similar but not as often as Pele. Garrincha= C. Ronaldo of today. etc. These players are not one-dimensional(meaning only dribblers). All these players can pass with accuracy and flair just as good as they can do wonderstrikes.
[Actually, I'd have to say that I agree w/eXecutioner almost 100%. It's not just about teamwork; it's also about positional roles & a properly constructed four or five-man midfield that can compete @ the highest level. In an all-star laden midfield of Cruyff, Maradona, Platini, etc.; who's the "piano mover" in midfield? Who's going to chase the ball & win it back after you lose it? & pretty much any competing all-time XI/squad that has the likes of an Edwards/Mackay/Viera-type player in midfield or say a Tom Finney/John Barnes-type @ one or either of the wing slots is just going to physically overpower this "Maradona XI" in midfield, IMHO.
Another common mistake on the front line is that some1 will pick say Garrincha & Best @ the wide slots, but there's no Batisuta/Lawton-type big #9 to feed those crosses to in & around the box. I'm not trying to ruffle any1's feathers or belittle any1's selection(s); I'm simply saying that on-the-pitch reality should be taken into account, IMO. Chances are that Maradona would not appreciate or go along w/the idea of trying to share the playmaking duties w/Cruyff or Platini in midfield, etc.]
Saying Pele, maradona,Garrincha,Best, etc. wouldent work is suprising to read form a football fan.
[I kind of went over this above already. What we're saying is that you couldn't overload an all-time XI w/ONLY attacking minded football legends & have any hope of winning anything approxiamating an ACTUAL footie match. &, IMO, fans who try to figure out football within the frame of the actual GAME itself are some of the best fans out there. Again, nothing personal intended or even implied to any1. I'm just trying to give you a different angle on what eXecutioner (& others) were getting @.]

Subs:
Platini, Zidane, Rivera, Rummenigge, Charlton, Eusebio, Muller, Gullit, and Baggio.
Replaced: Messi (superb talent but lets see how he does in a WC first) Ronaldinho (had a chance to make this team and still does lets see how he does in 2010, that's if he makes the WC), and Rivaldo (very underrated legend but his reign didn't last long enough).
New inclusions: Matthews - Perhas the best player of the first 50 years of the 20th century of course. Rivera - Arguably the greatest Italian player of all-time, one of the best passers in history. Two-time UCL winner, Euro Cup winner, WC Finalist, etc. Rummenigge - Arguably the last great offensive player Germany has produced in the past 25 years or so. Back to back WC finals, Euro Cup champion, 2 UCL's, 2 Ballon D'Ors, very underrated!

Terry is an important player for a big club, but has no business being in a World XI.
