Having said that, I just might have a good story for you late tonight with significant U.S. soccer implications. Be sure to check the main sports page at www.washingtonpost.com before bedtime.

Well it would be amazing to see Zidane in MLS , but he has already walked away from talks once , I doubt he will decide to sign now.

I'm hoping it has something to do with Lamar Hunt's will.

The guy was loaded - and hopefully his felt as warmly about US Soccer as US Soccer did about him (naming the US Open Cup after him - and giving $5 million from the US Soccer Foundation for PHP).

It would be cool if he kicked USSF say $10-$50 million for a youth development foundation - where kids can obtain scholarships to pay for their MLS Academy/club soccer fee's.

Better yet - pay the money to MLS Academies directly and let them identify the players that can participate.

Possibilities:

1. Coach news (Bradley no longer "interim" perhaps)
2. Reyna or McBride coming out of Nat. team retirement (probably not)
3. USMNT in another international tournament (are there any others available to us?)
4. Sunil Gulati being replaced (one can only hope)

Could be something else of course, but those are the only things I could come up with. Guess we'll know soon enough (tonight). At least we don't have to wait long for this one.

Would be nice. And he'd be forgiven for that whole "I wanna play for Italy" thing once he scored against Mexico.

Maybe some kind of announcement about a Copa America lineup. Maybe Keller will come play.

Yeah,if they are really not planning on fielding current the "A" team, they could bolster the youngsters with Keller or BMB.He calls it a "good" story,so hopefully it's happy news.....

Rumors today that Capello will quit Real Madrid. Maybe he's our new coach?

S. Africa couldn't get their act togeather and we have been given the 2010 WC!
On a more serious note, maybe we are bidding on 2018? England is getting their bid togeather right now...

Nope.

Soldier, are you saying nope in that you know for fact the potential story is about something else? If so, why not fill in the gaps?

Cheers

Because beyond the information that it isn't #1 on the previous page, things are still developing.

It's up to the writer to fill in the blanks in good time. He just asked me to say it had nothing to do with the coaching vacancy/non-vacancy.

In this case, I'm just the messenger.

Man, I'm not trying to be a tease. And I don't know exactly what's going down.
