Splendid rugby day. What a great sport it is ! Probably the only sport where the underdogs are declared heroes simply because they score a few points vs the bigshots. Canada did very well, Portugal was full of heart, and Namibia made me yell out of joy.

Bless the underdogs !

I hear you there, during Japan v Aussies even the Aussies fans at the bar I was watching it were cheering for Japan ever time they had a break away. This game really is all about having heart.

Japan did a superb game yesterday vs Fiji. They gave everything they had, including 4 or 5 minutes overtime. Tactically and technically the Japanese are good. Unfortunately, they lack the muscle. On the other hand, you can say they are braver, when you see the difference in weight and size between them and the other teams.

I was in the stadium (the Stadium ;)) yesterday. It was a great match to watch, altough not the best technically speaking. The crowd appreciated it very much and both teams were congratulated.

Can some one tell me though what was up with the opening ceremony. I don't know if I was missing out on something, but it looked like a mix between cirque de sol and road warrior.

Excellent victory over Ireland today.

So now what....

Are we rooting for Ireland to beat Argentina by more then 7 points, without scoring 4 tries?!?!?

Let's be fairplay. Argentina plays excellent rugby and deserves the 1st seat in the group.

As for us, we'll have to beat the Allblacks sooner or later anyway.

Assuming he plays Chabal, where Chabal usually plays..... Not at the 4.....

Also assuming he doesn't start Michelak..... But I've just probably been listening to the Irish commentators on Setanta too much.

Also, playing New Zealand would mean the winner would get Australia.

That is just plain tough......

Plus I don't like having to play the All Blacks in Cardiff of all players. Better to prolong the inevitable an get either Aus, or New Zealand in the final.... N'est pas?

There's nothing unfair in wishing that Ireland crushes Argentina...:p

The Irish were nowhere near the Argentinians. A fair and square victory. With Wales beaten by ... Fiji, it means that 2 countries from the rainy islands up there are out.

How sad.

They'll even have to play the qualification rounds for the 2011 RWC. Mwaaaa mwaaa ha ha ha mwaaa mwaaa ha :D !

No, IRB changed the rules. Now the 3 first teams of the pools are automatically qualified for the next World Cup.

So in 2011 we are sure to see :
South Africa
Australia
New Zealand
Argentina
England
Fiji
Scotland
France
Tonga
Wales
Italy
Ireland

So its France-New Zealand huh? Well then, I guess we will see if this team has what it takes to win the cup. And being the host nation and having to play your QF match overseas??? That's complete bullshit. I guess that's how the dice fell though.

Blame it on the French Rugby Administration, after all they were the ones who "bribed" Wales for their vote by offering them games in Wales.
