Shooting is probably the most important part of the game, yet its amazing how many world-class professionals regularly kick the ball 5 feet wide of or over the goals.
Every player other than defenders, should, in my opinion, be able to put at least 80% of his shots on goal per game.
The first time shot is good for fowards. From short range, and more than anything else, about placement.

if you have time you can set yourself up before slamming it in.

Once you´ve gotten short-range shooting down then you can go for long-range. You usually have more time to set yourself up as the keeper won´t be expecting something from that far out.
