Some may think that I am jumping the gun with this but actually I think this needs to be discussed with the FO as soon as possible to avoid problems later. Supporter sections need to be identified in the new stadium and quick, before the FO starts to reserve season tickets for next year (which I wonder if they could be doing that already.)

We all know how annoying it can be for both standing fans and sitting fans when tickets are sold to both types of fans in the same section. Both the RCB and the Loyalists have run into this before however in Rice Eccles Stadium it hasn't been a problem since there are always plenty of empty seats in other sections that sitting fans can be moved to when needed. In the new stadium that could be a problem if games start to sell out like we all hope and plan will happen.

So I think we need some cool headed people to get together with the FO and work this out before it is too late.

Loyalist leadership, RCB leadership, has anyone spoken with the FO about this yet? Are we going to remain seperated or are we going to be in neighboring sections? I'm wondering if we will have a choice or if the FO already has something in the works.

I don't think it is too early though to discuss this and get the FO envolved, even if ground hasn't been broken yet they could be getting ready to reserve season tickets. Discuss.

When you look at the above rendering I think there can only be a couple of places that are going to work for stading only sections. Either on one of the ends in the upper deck or directly behind the South goal between the two structures.

I don't think anywhere along the sidelines will work since tickets are going to be so high priced that only the rich plastic fans will be able to buy those anyway, and I figure behind the North goal will always fill up with kids and their AYSO soccer teams (like the North goal fills up that way right now.)

The upper deck could be interesting depending on how much those tickets might run, or behind the South goal could be interesting as well since that is where traditionally supporter sections usually are located.

I don't think it is too early to start thinking about this and getting input. I know that the Loyalists are already thinking about it and discussing things with the FO. In the end, we may not have much choice though. From what I've heard, it sounds like the FO is going to designate the section that is for SGs and we'll just have to live with it.

Personally, while I don't think the view in from the endlines is that great, I would rather be there as a group because that is where the seats are cheapest and then the FO would have no reason to stop people from moving there if they want to join us. At the same time, I know that there are people opposed to that because they don't like the view from there. It will be interesting to see what happens in the end.

I say south goal. That's where I said we should have sat to begin with.

excuse me, why are people saying that there is no 360 seating in sandy stadium?

To me it looks pretty much 360...or are the seats at the bottom of the rendering just temporary bleachers??

probably, that's where the stage will be, so it's probably just bleachers on the stage or something like that.

I will stick with RCB, but I sincerely hope they learn from DC United and put the supporter's section right up front in the middle. I really don't want to be relegated to behind the goal, especially since right now RCB has better seats than that.

Unfortunately, Chris Keeney who came from United is not with RSL any longer and he knew what a supporter's group right up front looked like. Hope the rest of our FO understand that like he did.

What would be real vision would be for Keeney to have given RSL groups the discount like he did DCU groups.

Don't think that was really in his hands. Doesn't it feel great that RSL supporter's groups get a $15 discount on their season tickets?

When you talk about the high priced tickets on the sidelines, how high are we talking? This isn't the NFL so I can't imagine they are going to be that high.

No idea what is going to happen with a new stadium price wise, but if prices remain the same, I'm currently paying about $27 for my tickets in E38. Supporter's groups get $15 off on their season tickets (works out to about $1 per ticket per match). I can live with that, but I do not think I could pay $40 per match. Right now it's just too much up in the air. Guess we'll just have to see, but as far as I know, nothing is set yet.

Well, if we can believe the info that came out when RSL was forced to open their books all ticket prices are going to go up. Sideline tickets I would expect would easily get to $40.

I can easily see the day when the cheapest tickets to an RSL match will be $20.

Any news to report on this subject?

Right now single-game ticket seats are 40-28-19-17.

Season tickets are 590-485-360-255.

I expect a price increase next year.

IIRC the discount wasn't so much a discount as RSL subsidizing the membership fee for the supporters groups.

I don't think they have started reserving seats yet. I have a very low number and they haven't called me yet.

I guess the "best" place to put the groups will depend on their goals, how many members they have, and how well they get along with their neighbors.

I can't imagine that they will put a standing section in front of people who want to sit. I don't see the supporters on a touchline unless they can fill the section. It would be a hard sell to tell someone who wants a $28 ticket that they will have to stand to see the game. Much easier to tell someone that they will have to upgrade from $17 to $19 so they don't have to stand. If they go on the touchline I predict they will not be at field level.

It's not a problem now but it will be in Sandy.

If the goal is to grow the groups, goal-line seats will help.

The MLS trend is on the endline. I think it's a mutually beneficial situation to put them there. Those seats are obstructed somewhat by the goal and so are harder to sell so why not sell them at a discounted rate to fans that buy jerseys and scarves and really make the atmosphere better at the stadium?

It also seems that since the stadium is underway, and will hopefully be done in about a year, that this is an issue that should be handled sooner rather than later. It would be best (in my estimation) to settle it now, and let the supporters go and start recruiting season ticket holders. The longer it takes to be resolved, the shorter window to recruit new members with the promise of good seats in the stadium.

FO in MLS need to recognize that Supporter's Sections that are close to the action really help sell their product. They make the atmosphere so much better, making people want to come back to the stadium. They also recruit new members (i.e season ticket holders) through membership. Texian Army/El Battalion in Houston has even had POSITIVE articles written about it in the Houston Chronicle. Not in the Sports Section, but in the Houston (Local/Metro) Section. It's free advertising.

Please get it right RSL!!!

Supporters will buy the expensive seats if those are the supporter's section, pretty much regardless of price. Keep the cheap seats for the soccer moms.

But has anyone been in discussions with the FO at all?
