Anyone have any info on these guys.... I haven't been able to muster up any informantion off th net about them.

Where do they play, what league if any do they partake in, how are players obtained for them ,etc.... ?

While we are screaming for this guy and that guy to come and go... why isn't there more interest in trying to bring more guys in from a grass roots perspective.

They practice at Kean I think and play in a local NJ league.

The reason we cant players up has to do with MLS. If we were to sign a player he will have to go to draft. Faria was part of this team and he needed to enter the SuperDraft.

I'm not sure if it would infringe on any laws that MLS has ... but why not try and place them in the USISL's D3 league....D3 would provide the younger guys with a feel for traveling and playing in different areas and enviroments. I'm sure it's only a step up from what they are involved with now, but at the same time it might make things easier when trying to select a talented player.

I try not to pay attention to the roster rules MLS impliments because I get enough headaches working at my resort, but isn't there a way to claim a few of the better players to our roster.

Because it make no sense for them to spend THAT much amounts of money only to have that player snatched. If lets say we get a good player who is ripping D3, Im sure alot of other teams would like to have him and they can easily draft him. We are not the ONLY team looking for new players.

This is the only thing they can do for now, where it is cost effective and they can keep their eye on the players. If they were to open up their own D3 team it will cost them just as much operating the team as it does Metro. And if they send players to D3 or A League it will be no different than going through our affiliates NOW. Thats what the LIRR, Battery, Silverbacks, etc. are for.

So until MLS and Single Entity phases out this is all we can do with our already strapped wallets

I appreciate you droppin' science on my ass.

For some reason the whole idea of having the Metro Blacks in a D3 league or something to that nature ...sounded good to me. Nothing wrong with trying to fill the world with yet another fabled Metro franchise.

Plus, didn't Nick say that the NJ Champions league is BETTER than the PDL?????

With Garbers recent comments about reserve teams, Metros Black could just become the reserve squad and then all the players would be protected wouldn't they?

Who cares, the Metro Black team is crap. The players are so bad and are all Oz's boys. Why waste any more money on them?

Serge makes a good point. Let me elaborate.

1. To have the team play in A league means there is a commitment in terms of stadium requirements that would be taken away from player development. Kean would be a borderline facility based of D3 league requirements. It costs more money to have a team in D3 and you just can't join, you have to play in one of the developmental leagues and then make application with the USL.

2. The objective of Metro Stars Black is to bring in players that are at most one to two years away from the MLS. This is not a developmental team made up of U17 players, most of these guys have just turned 20 or are in their early 20's.

3. Metros Black carries about 30 plus players, if they played in D3 the roster would be limited or they would have to create another team.

4. The Champions League is a semi-pro league and has a good level of soccer. Most of the teams are ethnic teams. Yes, it's not D3, but D3 is not that much better in quality.

5. Serge hit the most important reason. If these guys played in D3 they are fair game come draft time. Playing in the Champions League somebody has to come out and scout the team in New Jersey.
