View Full Version : DCU fans in Europe?

As the season approaches, I'm wondering how many other DC supporters are over here on the other side of the pond. If you're one of them, use this thread to speak up...

I have just now decided to form an unofficial chapter of Europe-based DC United fans. Right now, there are only two members. I'm married to the other one. Huh, maybe we can get some people with other last names in this club.

If Andy (Erimus here on BS) ever resurfaces, I'll point him in your direction - though he's based in England but still. :D

That would be appreciated... I'm not too worried about which countries. I've got no illusions about finding a lot of us in Belgium, for example. First I'd just like to ID as many as possible in Europe, especially in the West.

If there are more than, you know, three of us, then we can start thinking about getting together someday for a gamewatch...

Or at least knowing if there's another fan in another city, which you just happen to be visiting the weekend there's a game, and can you find the game on satellite?...

Or, thinking bigger, the next time DC plays friendlies or does preseason training over here, road trips are possible...

You get the picture.

Bumping this, since I never heard from anyone. Thought I'd give it another go.

I'm about 30 minutes north of London. Stuck watching DC on mlsnet.com

Yup, that's how I watched the Toronto game. Better than nothing. Good to know you're there. If you ever happen to be in Belgium on gameday, drop me a line for a viewing and some hospitality.

I'll be over for this fall as of this coming weekend, so RSL is the last home game for me. If anyone in LONDON or nearby (LT) wants to get together for a match viewing, that'd be great...only thing is I'm sure they'd all be in the middle of the night...:(

Screaming Eagles - Paris Brigade checking in. Count four of us longtime DCU season ticket holders and SEs, including my wife and two boys. We were back stateside for a month this summer and caught both the Superliga and Beckham matches. We go to Paris St-Germain matches a couple of times a year, though the local rugby side (Stade Français) has a more DCU-like atmosphere so we hit that too.

Drink a fine belgian beer for me!

Will do.

Now I'm crossing my fingers that we'll be able to get the MLS Cup on TV here. We get the Armed Forces Network, but on Sunday it'll likely get crowded out by NFL.

I'm a former DCU season tix holder (since day 1 up until we moved) living over in Germany (Wiesbaden...just outside Frankfurt). I use MLSnet and the occasional game tape sent by friends back home. Luckily, as teachers, my wife and I head home for most of the summer and are able to take our two young sons to every home game we can for a few months.

Hi Fellas. Andi from Nottingham signing in. Like others I watch the highlights and live games on MLSnet. Worth every pennie.

My son, 1 year and 10 months old, is also a fan. Not that he has much choice!

Hey, our European branch is gradually growing here.

My big news is I got a Slingbox for Christmas, and I'm hoping that makes viewing the games a bit more reliable this year. It means I'll be able to watch the ones that are nationally televised, instead of just on MLSNet.

Question: If I hosted a match viewing here in Brussels, would there be any takers? Think pregame beer tasting and postgame pub crawl.

Heh not fans based in Europe, but a buddy of mine and I were in London to watch some games over the festive season and there was a lot of DC evangelizing (mostly on his part). We got a lot of blank stares and patronizing looks, especially when he started extolling the "craziness" of DC fans to a former West Ham firm leader. But Barra and DCU gear was definitely on display at all times.
