Just wanted to start up a thread on this guy. I am quickly becoming a HUGE fan of his, even though Ive only seen him in about 5 games--but enormous performances from him against Liverpool, Spuds, and again today vs. Bolton. Seems like he already knows his place on the team--and has some deft touches and MAD as hell ball holding skills-- and only 18!

Again what a pick from Wenger and cant wait to see more of him soon.

Denilson has been fantastic, especially considering his young age and inexperience. Wenger has an amazing eye for talent, and a gift for getting the most of his players. But then again, we already knew that, didn't we?

This boy is going to be big. The maturity he showed against a good Bolton team proves he will make it in this Arsenal team. Imagine what kind of player he'll be when he's 20 yrs old. For me, even though they play in different positions, he is showing his limitless potential unlike Walcott who is on a poor run of form.

He did well, didn't he. I wish that both he and Cesc would hit the net a little more; mostly for their own sake, as I'm sure it is quite a lift. I know Cesc had some figure in mind for this year, but....

And Walcott too--what a difference one goal will make! I hope he plays vs. Blackburn and knocks one in. I think we'll see a sharper Walcott from then on if that happens.

We have a winner here, for sure. He can hopefully fill Gilberto's shoes in a couple of years and tandem with Cesc in the middle of the park.

As for Theo, I've seen him make some dangerous runs on the flanks, but then it all goes for naught. Here's hoping his first goal indicates a better change of form. I think he'll be ok, too. What a future we have, and what a genius we have at the helm. It'll only end in tears if Arsene doesn't re-up his K.

This shows how much emphasis should be made on a young player to develop skill level. Teo at this moment the most important weapon he have is pace, but his touches are poor and final ball is not that good.

I was really impressed with Denilson's tenacity in yesterday's match.

There were numerous times where a couple of Bolton players were muscling in on him and Denilson refused to give up the ball. In fact, he usually came away with it. He's a little guy, but it looks like he can really carry his own.

He will surely be a dangerous addition to our midfield.

Another plus for Denilson is that he takes shots when he has the opportunity. No one has managed to break him of that habit yet! ;)

I've shared my complementary thoughts about Denilson's play before, but I thought you guys may be interested in this comp of his performance vs Sp#rs, by Blanco...

hey thanks for the video-- just love the simple game he plays--get the ball, pass it on right away, and move. great shots on goal too. he'll bag a few once he gets regular games!

Could someone comment on the prospects of a Denilson Cesc midfield. Both are clearly tremendously talented and tremendously young. Could the two coexist in a midfield for 8-10 years?

as for theo, i just think hes having a bit of a bad patch--remember his performances in the 1st half of the season were fantastic! great passes, soft, floaty crosses that found their man (gilberto vs villa, baptista vs.hamburg)
once a few months pass im confident he'll be back up and giving the opp. some run-around.

agree on the talent level, but I think including Diaby, the three upcoming CM's are more offensive minded than defensive (Diaby to a lesser extent), even though Denilson and Diaby have shown that they can tackle well in midfield.
Since Cesc is going to be the future of Arsenal according to Wenger, it might be a good idea to have Diaby try to fit into the Gilberto defensive role these next few years. But the where will Denilson play? Will he rotate with Cesc?

Man I love having these squad depth problems:D

Not too sure. Although Denilson is more defensively minded, I can't really say he will be able to protect a back four week in week out just yet but who knows what the future might hold.

The only game so far we've seen them both as a pairing in the centre was the Spurs game at Shite Hart Lane and they were overrun in the first half, although in the 2nd we destroyed them.

could anyone see Arsenal going to a Barca style 4-5-1 in the future?

Dont know about Barca style, but we have played 4-5-1 in the past--just with Rosicky and Freddie pushing up far enough so that it looks like a 4-3-3

Denilson wears number 15 same as Fabregas used to wear. Coincidence?

Barca play an attacking 4-3-3, with Ronaldinho and Messi as the supporting attackers to E'too, not a defensive 4-5-1 Chelsea used to play.
