Holy crap! I almost spit my drink out when I was watching Sportscenter! Freddie Ljundberg's extra time goal made Sportscenters top 10 plays! I've never seen a Premier League highlight on that show!

That happens from time to time. One time I had an Arsenal game recorded and was sitting down to watch it. Sportscenter was on and they showed Arsenal's winner. Ruined my otherwise carefully planned night.

Espn is wising up and realizing that theres a huge base of prem fans in this country...I hope it doesn't stop at just having the occasional goal on top 10 plays. Maybe a weekly review show or something with the guys that do the soccernet press pass?

It's the dead season for ESPN, pre-spring training, pre-NFL Combines, pre-NBA AS weekend, Crap PGA tourneys, there may be some NASCAR this weekend to show for extended highlights...?

True, but I did see some prem highlights on top 10 during american football season too. But it was a mid week prem game so I guess you are right

I have a hard time believing Sportscenter would fill a hole with the EPL, unless they really, really had to.

Especially since they don't have the rights. They've had no qualms about showing CL highlights though.

I have a hard time believing an EPL review show wouldn't get higher ratings than World Series of Poker or the super exciting PBA Bowling Championships.

Could you imagine if ABC Sports showed Arsenal vs Man United instead of bowling on a Sunday afternoon. Their ratings would definitely shoot up, if only due to the sheer curiosity of Americans. A lot of Americans don't even know EPL exists. If they had some exposure to it on a regular basis, I think it might actually become popular in the mainstream.

Iniesta's goal vs. England last week made the No.1 play on sportscenter...
Im really glad that those bozos over there are warming up to soccer. Once Beckham comes to MLS it'll get real hot.

A lot of Americans don't care to know EPL exists. FYP.
Unfortunately, your statement is more accurate now.

You'd be wrong.

Poker's still mighty hot, and importantly it costs very little to produce. Likewise bowling costs almost nothing for the rights and there is still a base of support for bowling on TV in the Midwest and East Coast.

It simply has to be said, if soccer was that popular, the US-Mexico game would fetch more than a 0.7.

The two hour EPL review show on Fox Sports was really my first opportunity to watch Arsenal week in and week out. Before then i had to just check results online but never really got to see them play much. Its a shame that the curtailed the show to one hour and only made it available on FSC.

For at least the last 2 weeks or so they have had a lady on from espn deportes who talks briefly about soccer.

True, but in fairness it was competing against American Idol ;)

and also the Duke v. UNC basketball game.

Regarding ESPN...they experienced a "bump" this summer with the WC:

Says ESPN senior vice president Artie Bulgrin, "I'm amazed at the interest."

And right now I think they are trying to figure out a way to make it work (starting w/ CL). Ratings are great and all, but there is just very little ad space to sell.
