Right then -

Many would like to see an American-style moniker. Many also want something original and reflective of St. Louis history. This might be a little bit of a stretch, but St. Louis Irons would be f**king awesome. The connection lies with the old Eads Company/Union Ironworks which built ironclad ships for the Union navy during the civil war.

Black and gray would make a jersey worthy of the name.

What do you crazy kids think?

I realize my username has 'iron' in it. This is a reference to an old song by Helmet, a great band. This should detract nothing from the shear awesome-ness that would be if our team was called St. Louis Irons.

How about St. Louis Archers? I think it's pretty self-explanatory.

LOL Fuzzy

Actually, with St. Louis Irons as the name, our mascot could be an Iron such as yours with a goofy face on the metal bottom.

I was down in the U City loop Saturday morning, and happened upon the marker for James B Eads in the walk of fame. Lo and behold, the three things discussed on the marker are the bridge across the Mississippi, opening the navigation channel to the sea at New Orleans, and convincing the American government of the need to build iron clad steam ships prior to the Civil War. Seeing a team named Irons would make me think of golf clubs, but I have learned some history from this exercise, so thanks for that Ironhead.

Hey, West Ham have a goofy hammer with a face on it. An iron is no goofier than that.
