I know a lot of you like Jeff...but week in and week out his columns just fall flat.

Anyone on here could write with the same gusto and pinash as Mr. Bradley does.... I've seen Yugo's with more fan fair and appeal.

a) I'd like you to write like he does when you're holding down two other full-time jobs as a great baseball writer and a general interest sports writer for ESPN

b) If nothing else, guaranteed he spells and has a grasp of grammar better than you.

William Shakespeare is a horrible playwrite. The only reason people think he is good is because they have only found his writings.

Exactly... why does he only put in a half assed effort for us.... that's all we get here in the states..is half assed attempts to please us soccer fans. Aren't you tired of always being happy because some journalist took the time to write a 5 sec. piece about MLS from the top of his head.

I will say that I am shocked he didn't include some sort of dimwitted story about an 80's movie or VH-1 behind the music. So at least we have that going for ourselves.

Your a Fire fan...seems the only people who stand up for him are Fire fans.... hmmmm...wonder why that is ?

I usually have trouble figuring out if his articles belong on mlsnet or "that 80's show". I never thought Jeff's articles were any good. I would admit that I cant write an article as well as he could, but he does suck. I dont bother reding him anymore. It really is a waste of my time. I dont care about his story's from the 80's that he always finds a way to include in his pieces.

His articles are pretty good, especially considering that he's basically doing it for free. Where is all this criticism coming from???

Several thoughts here:

1. Nobody pays him to write for MLS
2. His "half assed" effort is many times better than no effort at all, or any post of yours to be honest.

Get more soccer fans and there will be more press. It's a simple concept that you haven't gotten a hold of yet.

And I wonder why NOBODY is joining your side of this arguement.

Maybe it's because your arguement is without merit and is just showing off your (lack of) thought on this subject.

I'm a DC fan, screw the Fire. Jeff is one of the top two soccer American soccer writers right now. Quit looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Everybody needs to back up and recognize that Jeff Bradley is a hell of a writer.

What are you looking for out of an American soccer column? He covers all the bases, and he gives a honest man's take at the game -- you can't ask for much more.

OK, his 80s references get old, but look past that and you'll see good information and analysis.

And no, most people can NOT write a column. Just look at the terrible English skills exhibited on this thread for proof of that.

PLAYWRIGHT. ARTICLE. PANACHE.

And I just have to add that anyone who thinks Shakespeare is a horrible playwright has no acquaintance with the history of Western drama. Whether or not you like Elizabethan language, Shakespeare's craftsmanship is remarkable.

Back to topic. I like Jeff Bradley. He has a sense of humor, calls it like he sees it, and devotes energy to soccer when he doesn't have to. I can't figure the people on these boards who complain when soccer gets ridiculed or ignored, then complain some more when a guy who makes a fine living writing about baseball takes time away from what puts food on his table to write about our little niche sport. What a bunch of sourpusses.

I'm not replying to make this a hostile thread...however just let me make these simple points if I may.

In reply to you above posting.... Mr. J. Bradley's recent articles have been appearing on MLSnet.com and not on ESPN.com/Soccernet. I state this because as I am sure most people would attest to the simple fact that the majority of those that visit MLSnet.com are already MLS/soccer fans. So now since his audience is already a fan or avid fan for that matter...why not make the piece a bit juicer.

Mr. J. Bradley has the sporting world as his feet. With working for such a respected broadcasting corporation as ESPN and also having his own brother as a coach in Major League Soccer, finding a few odd stories to jot down , surely can't be that hard of a task.

I do however very much respect Mr.J Bradley. I too am a professional and I too know what it's like to be buggered by someone from the oher side of the fence. Everytime he hands in his final thoughts to MLSnet/ESPN , he knows there's always going to be some guy, just like me, who is going to give him grief. This however makes people like him and I take inventory and take a glimpse of what it's like from the audience's perspective. More often then not usually it's brushed off as just another pain in the arse, and sometimes it helps us out.

I know he reads these boards and possibly even this thread in question...hopefully he'll understand my point. If not , then what can I do.... this is a discussion board based on people's views. Sometimes not all of us see eye to eye, but that's what makes a good debate.

Like I said I meant no harm.. it was only my sorry 2cents.

After seeing Shakespeare get trashed on Bigsoccer, I'm sure Bradley isn't going to get all that worked up about some foolish comments here.

I haven't read many baseball articles in some time. Maybe I'll check out Bradley's stuff. I like his soccer columns, but he should probably be judged on his baseball work.
