The honorable Santiago Bernabeu once said: "Real Madrid should always have 2 argentines and no english player"

I wouldn't be surprised if Real Madrid snap Roman away from Juve ... and send Higuain to Castilla.

Riquelme is a genius. Ask Zidane if in doubt. Can't wait to see some magic in the 31 games he could play for Boca. :D

31 games, is that if we play out Libertadores until the final? You counted them? Man, you trully live up to your nickname. :D

Llegó el domingo por la noche. Ayer saludó a sus nuevos compañeros en Casa Amarilla. Hoy se va a entrenar solo y quiere debutar el domingo ante Rosario Central.

Don't tell me you didn't know that the Libertadores Cup is a 14 match tournie! It is 7 trips abroad ... plus the trip to Tokyo. Quite expensive.

Sayonara! :D

No, I hadn't counted them, but I trust you.

Does the contract with Roman include playing the Intercontinental?

If so, I think it is worth a trip to Tokyo for myself. We ought to get a Bigsoccer group together if it comes to that.

Some people close to Riquelme speculate that is one of the reasons why he wanted a 1 year contract.

One thing that most people haven't mentioned at all ... the US$2 mill paid to him (all costs included) can mean a trip to Tokyo, with the economical benefit it represents. And ... how his clarity of football can make other players shine and increase their market value. Think of Palacio, Cardozo and Banega to start. The investment is right.

If that is what they are doing, it would be a huge gamble. Bianchi made it look easy, but Libertadores has got to be the toughest club tournament to win, no matter how good you are.

But I doubt it. I don't think they are betting on winning. Macri is not stupid and whatever he may be in his other business dealings, it seems obvious that he cares about Boca and is not going to ******** the team.

I think Boca must have some money now, from selling some of the young players, especially from the Gago deal, and they are reinvesting it. Macri knew after the Lavolpe fiasco that the team and the fans needed a boost, the opportunity for Riquelme came along, and my thinking is that with the money they got, they can afford the deal.

So, in terms of investment, if they can get the extra money by winning Libertadores, I am sure they are looking at it as a calculated potential windfall, not as a gamble to be able to afford Riquelme.

Macri was asked of Boca's financial situation after the Orteman signing ... US$17 mill saved. And another US$4 mill pending to be "confiscated" from Newells for the Belluschi deal. So, why not bring a player that will take Boca to the next level, having the Libertadores to play for?

I insist, the younger players in the team will automatically re-value with Roman in the team. I don't even want to start thinking of the explosion of Neri and Palacio when Roman holds the ball and cuts those passes. :D Forget of Mexico as a destination for Neri, Europe will take him soon enuff.

One other note, Palermo played 124 games along Roman. Scoring 91 and winning 5 titles. When Insua was in the team, Palermo scored 23 goals in 43 games, winning 4 titles. Palermo needs an enganche to maximize him. Adding that every set piece will be 1/2 a goal. Including corner kicks.
