I think we truly have some of the best dishes in the world. If Iranians outside of Iran found a good way to market Iranian food it would be an instant success. In the Washington DC /Baltimore area there is a chain of restaurants ( I think 8 of them ) called Moby Dick House of kabob and its Iranian food marketed towards anyone and his restaurants are always packed and popular , it’s a self service . But the owner hit the jackpot, he is a opening new locations all the time.

Alright back to the topic, my top favorite Iranian dishes are:

1.kabob torsh ( its mainly a shomali dish )
2.Ab goosht ( mmmmmm , ab goosht with fresh sabzi , you cant beat that )
3.Kale Pache ( I woke up early almost everyday while I was on vacation in Iran to eat some kale pache)

Not sure if anAr would count as Iranian food but it my favourite fruit. I recommend anyone who comes to the UK to bring me some (you just don't find them as often here...and they somehow don't taste the same!)

Food, it would have to be ghormeh sabzi. Hands down my favourite, especially made with extra dried lime! Nice and sour.

Favourite "side food" would have to be dolme barg-e-mo. Sooo nice. Again slightly sour!

I actually haven't tried some of the dishes mentioned here! Most of them I understand are regional specialties, but kookooye bademjoon?

I would count Anar more Chinese than Iranian and I also never heard of kookooye bademjoon but I have heard of kookooye sabzi or just kookoo

Yeah, kookoye sabzi is a regular everywhere. I have even tried kookooye sib zamini (and you can imagine what that would be - very similar to kotlet).

The 3 dishes mentioned that I haven't tried yet are:

kabob torsh, shami (I've actually heard of this one) and gooshte koobideh va piaz.

A friend I know went on and on about khoreshte khala or something; meant to be a kermanshahi dish.

Yeah, I just posted the Anar simply because of its relevance in Fesenjan. I do miss enjoying Anar when we would visit my Dads ranch back in Shahre Kord/Esfahan...Good times.

I don’t know what kind of fesenjoon your family is cooking up but normally forenoon has no relevance to anar

Perhaps your family doesn't make it with Pomegranate juice. Most do.
