I found this by accident.

The Charleston Battery is having open auditions for their Dance Team. We are looking for girls 18-25 to help us with promotions, sidelines, and most importantly half time dances.;)

I've got to get to work on having a pole installed on the field in front of E-10..........

You guys know I love & respect the Battery but this shi-ty news.

Dance girls are basketball & cheerleaders are for American football. Putting dance girls on a soccer team, especially the Battery, cheapens the whole experience.

I don't see anything on the official website, so someone could just be having some fun. I agree that dancing girls and boys have no place at a soccer match. If it will sell tickets, then I guess I see a possibility, but I don't think anyone would come to a match to see dancers.

I think this a a ploy by BUCK to get some more hot chics into the Three Lions pub!

I cant imagine they will be on during the match. there isn't any space on the side lines or behind the goal.

If tey just cheer at half time that would be fine. during the match they can sit in E10 as long as they sing our songs!!! I can gaurentee you that would put some young guys in E10 trying to "get up on that!"

This is a disturbing mental image.

Just so I'm not accused of making this post up:http://charleston.craigslist.org/tlg/265238755.html

This confirms jredknapp's concern. I love a big butted woman with love handles as much as anyone, but in the proper place - like on the top of a bar.

What do her drawers say? Girl something is all I can make out ;)

Since the LowCountry has the finest girls on the planet, it may not turn out too bad. Hopefully you end up with something more like the Chivas girls and less like the Crewzers *shudder*

I fully expect Mikey to take lots of pictures, to be put in this here thread, if such a team is formed. Tell your wife covering tryouts and practice is part of your E10 responsibilities. So you forget to mention it's for the dance team ..... ;)

I'm sorry but this is rubbish.

These ladies don't belong on the pitch or in the pub. If you want to stare at some T&A head out the strip clubs in Charleston.

I haven't seen a dance team for a football club outside of West Ham and the Metrostars. Those West Ham ladies are all from the docklands, probably found waiting for another Greek Navy Ship to port.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some gorgeous ladies show up at Blackbaud, but as fans not paid employees. This type of stuff doesn't belong at a football match let alone Blackbaud.

Why cheapen the experience of what is the best football pitch in all of North America ?

Wandering in cause this was the most recent thread in USL. It occurs to me this would be a great case for a fall-to-spring season, just so it could double as a Festivus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus) pole. (Feats of Strength among the ultras, anyone?)

Wow. Should I just tell all 14 girls to go home? Sounds that way.
They busted their asses at tryouts, and we are (were) all really excited
about this, including everyone in the front office. In case you didnt realize, theres plenty of other USL dance teams. I'll remember all the hatin' going on when you guys are all trying to hook up with them...

we had a "performance team" at minnesota thunder games for the past two years
and let me just say that after the 2 season experiment the team came to the conclusion that no one cared

they added ZERO to the game itself (natch)
they drew ZERO extra attendance
and luckily they are now GONE!

it was not as painful as we all thought it might be
but it was lame

"Our goal . . . is to have a lot of fun. Our goal . . . is to create atmosphere at Battery matches. We want to sing, yell, make noise, and stand and cheer during the game. We want to goad other Battery fans into singing, yelling, making noise, standing, and cheering during the game."

you can do it, we can help.

Madriver,

I am keeping an open mind because anyone who wants to bust their arses as you describe deserves a chance. I just hope the arses don't look like the two putting some serious pressure on the seams of the red pants in the preceding photographs. I also hopel you don't stand in front of me trying to get me to cheer when all I want to do is watch a game and cheer when something truly exciting happens. Good luck.
