I have a gut feeling that our so called"loyal"players will be lined up for transfers after the season.Upson and Neill have clauses in their contract,NRC,and anton I have a feeling,Teddy is going to retire,Marlo will be wanting to try greener pastures..basically the starting 11 I have a feeling will be looking for a way out.Is it official yet that we are going down?can't far off,the way the team is playing.
What a difference a year makes, upper mid table,FA Cup final, and Euro football last year, now this.I wish that team players read what their fans had to say about them.I'm 47 years old and think that my rec league team could beat them right now.

Theres no way Marlene will leave,he will score at least 25-30 goals and there will be whispers of England duty.Zamora will score a similar number with his bum and we will all laugh at Spurs for letting such a talent to leave.

Zamora can do it in the other league....but so far less than par in the epl.
I cannot believe WHU is going down......this is soo depressing.

I started thinking about which players will leave recently and here's who I think will go and the starting eleven we will have in the fizzy pop league.
Outs in the summer:
Boa Morte
Upson
Neill
NRC
Ferdinand
Ashton (if he's fit enough, if not then next January)
Tevez
Benayoun (he left his last club after they were relegated)
Sherringham (will retire or move on)
Harewood (I think offers will come in for him)
Green
Carroll
Konchesky
Davenport (if offers come in)
Gabbidon (if offers come in. He needs to protect his international career)
Ethers (if offers come in)
Zamora
Cole
Paintsil
Mullins (if offers come in)
That's 20 players. Have I missed anyone?
I think McCartney, Spector and Newton will stay. Mears may come back to us but apart from him we will be forced to recall our on loan players. Ephraim is playing well for Colchester and Kyle Reid should return. Noble is already back. Here's how I expect our team to look next season:
Walker
Spector - Collins - Davenport/Gabbidon/Dailly(whoever's still here) - McCartney
Newton - Noble - Quashie/Mullins - Reid
Ephraim - (any striker which isn't sold)
Obviously there is a chance some may still be with us at the start because no offers came in for them during the summer, but they will be off in the January. Just like Defoe the last time.

I'm not so sure so many players will leave. Unlike last time this time there is no wage issues.
However, some (maybe all) will want to leave but whether they all get there wish or not...
Benayoun and Tevez for sure because they're too good to waste anymore time with us. Upson and Neill because they negotiated their way out before arriving. Konchesky because Curbs doesn't like him. Blanco because we only borrowed him.
I'd be shocked and disappointed if Ashton were allowed to leave.
As for the rest... keep Noble and Green and I couldn't give a toss who stays and who goes.
I think the rest are utility players who could be replaced with others of similar ability and better attitude. But I think most of the squad will be here come next august.
You would hope that every player wants to stay and fight to get us promoted again, but that would be somewhat nostalgic and incredibly naiive.
To me however, the bigger question is that of manager. Is Curbs the man to get us promoted? If he does, should he then be kept on? Given his contract length this is probably a moot point. But I honestly believe getting the right manager is the key to the ressurection of WHUFC.

If we start with a team like that we'll be joining Leeds in Div 2 the following season. BTW you forgot Curbs, if he keeps this up he'll be gone also.
In talking to other W ham supporters who still go to the games the feeling I'm getting is morale amongst them is the lowest in 20 years which could mean a large drop in attendance if we go down. W Ham supporters are some of the best in the World but we/they can only take so much of this before they put their money to a wrap of greasy chips and beer which gives much more satisfaction. :( In my 40 odd years of supporting them this is the worst in my book, even the team under GR was better. Scary
