English football readings?

I am looking for some summer reading on the history of English football. While I do know the last ten years or so fairly well, and as a British history graduate student I know the beginnings of the game, I am much more rusty on the rest of the time and was hoping to get something to read to help enlighten me.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
