OK, my girlfriend's birthday is on Monday (Feb. 12), which, as you're aware, is two days before Valentine's Day. What do I do? Celebrate them as one thing (obviously advantageous to me), or recognize each separately (more of a problem).
She's not overly materialistic, so I think I'll be fine, but I want to make sure I'm not going to make a serious ********-up by refusing to acknowledge one or the other.

Do not under pain of death think of celebrating both at the same time. 2 presents, 2 celebrations, 2 bonks.

Truer words have never been spoken.
And don't EVER believe her when she says she "doesn't care what you do for Valentines day" or her birthday or any other celebration. Ohhhhh...don't ever believe that one.

I'm gonna go out on a very short limb and say that words would have been twisted regardless of your wording. :D
