Well, wasn't THAT just a Cuban Missile Crisis. There really wasn't a way to do that without jerking around fans in Utah, St. Louis, San Jose, and who the hell knows where else? Yeah, I know, all's well that end's well.

I'm a little worried that opposition to the stadium, according to one of the lawmakers, was running to the tune of 15-1. I guess that doesn't matter to us, now that it's passed, but if legislators end up paying with their political lives, that's not going to be entirely helpful for future stadiums. Just wanted to point that out again.

The opposition numbers depends on who is talking and whose numbers they choose to use. We're very happy in any case that the deal is finally done. (at least by all appearances!)

It's February in an off year. Elections are this November at the earliest but prob Nov 2008. The money really isn't all that much, and there will be interesting top ticket races like, oh I don't know president, that will have more impact than any 2 year old issue thats done with by a massive factor. I can't imagine even the Utah press would still harp that far into the future.

I just hope Freddie tears it up in SLC the next couple of years. They'll build a statue of him at the new digs if he does.

Well done Salt Lake...

You guys have a terrible name, but it's nice to see a team with a good fan base not get screwed. :D

About Adu.....he's an excellent midfielder, but be ready to watch him alternate between spectacular and horrible play on the field moment to moment.....overall a good trade for both teams though.....

That's when the poll question is worded something along the lines of "Do you think the greedy state of Utah should take your tax money to build a stadium for a league that's going to fail?" When it's a little closer to reality, the numbers come up a little closer.

Wow. I had no idea it was that bad. The MLS financial model seems to be that the moment your team gets it's own stadium, it becomes profitable...I wonder why nobody caught on in Salt Lake...
