Curbishley wields axe for crucial encounter.
Alan Curbishley has dropped three players in a determined attempt to shake up a West Ham United team who have not won in eight Barclays Premiership matches. The manager is believed to have recalled Robert Green in place of Roy Carroll for the crucial match against Watford today, the first time that the goalkeeper will have played since the 6-0 defeat away to Reading on New Year’s Day.

Curbishley has been critical of some of the mistakes made by Carroll, in particular two weeks ago, when he made a hash of a cross that led to Watford’s winning goal in the FA Cup fourth-round tie. Curbishley has also left out LuÍs Boa Morte, who has been in mediocre form since his £5 million transfer from Fulham last month, and Kepa Blanco, the forward who scored as a substitute on his debut against Liverpool. Matthew Ethering-ton will play on the left, with Bobby Zamora and Marlon Harewood reunited in attack.
