It's strange that in Italy Martins biggest problem was that he didn't know how to finish. Then he goes to the EPL and he starts scoring wonder goals.

He's certainly taken well to the Premiership. He's got a promising future at Newcastle if they stay clear of relegation. Best in the World? Nah. Drogba is better. Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

His pace and physical ability fits the Premiership to a tee. Just doesn't fit the much slower Serie A very much imo. My guess is that he's scoring wonder goals because he's getting a lot more opportunity to do so, especially with fast counter-attacks, than when he was in Italy. Of course, playing time is a factor too.

Paul Scholes has been immense this season. Without him, Man Utd wouldn't be doing as well as they are now. He gets my vote for player of the season, though C. Ronaldo has made the biggest improvement.

It's too difficuilt to say who is the best player in the world. No doubt someone will try to suggest that Cannavaro or Ronaldinho are the best and that will just be silly.
