From Bueno:

"They were a little opportunistic and stayed in their own end for the majority of the match, but they did beat us," Marquez said. "Considering the tactics that they utilized, I think that is the credit I would give them considering the fact that on the field, they were not superior to us."

Superiority is meaningless everywhere but on the scoreboard. Moreover, it is impossible to be superior to an opponent eight consecutive times and walk away with seven losses, a draw and zero goals.

Pretty much says it all.

Like Wynalda kept saying, they are in complete denial. To be honest though, they had FAR more chances than we did, just a bit better connection here and a couple of feet there and they will get their goals. Still, the amount of shots stopped against defenders as well was crazy and it just goes to show how well they were covered throughout the evening. Mexico certainly can break us down, they were very very close on many occations, they simply had bad luck, bad positioning, and bad timing.

I'm not Grant, but I sure thought so.

The real Duke/NC game is tonight, anyway.

Epic typo! (http://www.laopinion.com/deportes/?rkey=00000000000001173300)

"Me parece que México jugó mejor. Hicimos mejor las cosas, controlamos el partido, nos vimos superiores a pesar de que sólo entrenamos un día y bellos tienen un mes trabajando juntos", explica Francisco Fonseca.

Kikin said, I'm pretty sure, "It appears to me that Mexico played better. We did things better, we controlled the game, we looked better even though we only trained for one day and they had a month to practice together."

Instead of writing "ellos", they wrote "bellos". So it comes out as "The pretty boys had a month to practice together."

He must have seen those 2002 USMNT fashion photos.

True, and that's why you never find people on this board claiming we "outplayed" Germany at World Cup '06.

Good article overall by Grant, but Clark sure didn't look more comfortable on the ball to me, his passing was atrocious.
