So, when Liverpool and United next play (in the Tostitos Anfield Bowl, I presume), will it be the first American derby?
And if Liverpool somehow finish second, can they convince the Glazers that the champion is settled by the top two teams having a playoff?
Things to think about.

Is that a concession? ;)

An interesting poser that one.
I don't see how you can dismiss it so quickly.
Our backline of those four player had so few games together that any difinitive judgement is really hard to make when compared to that line of the Arsenal.
In the games they did play, imo, they were better than any 10 games of that particular Arsenal back four.
Subjective opinion of course, given the dearth of data to compare the two
Comparing from different eras is nigh on impossible, unless you're Rocky Balboa, but in the 97-98 season, we did have a period from the end of january till we'd won the title where we only conceded only 2 goals. 14 games.

I think we conceded what, 0 goals in 9 games at one point, iirc?

With those players ?
Hey, don't guess, look up your own stats if you want proof! :p
Actually, don't bother, you're probably right. I'm sure everyone has their personal preferences, and defensive records are also affected by the quality of the keeper and the players in front of the defence, so comparisons are a little silly

Probably not the place to discuss it but the U-21 match between England and Spain yesterday was VERY enjoyable to watch. Lot's of young talent on both squads.

I thought SWP was starting as well. Gives him a run out if he is I suppose.
Each of the Neville sisters playing in each fullback role. Good god!!!
Expect the "Lampard is shite" posts directly after the game, and if England somehow win also expect a "That's why Gerrard MBE should be captain"
Zzzzzzzzzz.

It was very enjoyable to watch. It helped a lot that Spain got 2 goals in the first half. Really made England push which opened up the game both ways. It was high pace, high qaulity most of the way.

Should have held on to Lita, eh? What a nice young player he's looking.
Lampard has been playing well of late, I expect a good 45 minutes from him.

I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Lita's. Certainly wish we hadn't released him..but he was only 15 or so...it's always a crapshoot and hindsight is always 20/20

Just shows how poorly run the youth system at Chelsea was back then.

Come on Ian Wright, you ex Gooner cvnt, we all know he's your boy but come on, time to face facts and while your at it remove Hansen and Shearer's heads from your arse.
Embarassing.

Man Utd have already played against Aston Villa 3 times since Lerner arrived so the first American derbies have already occurred.:p

Absolutely dreadful marking on the goal though. You'd almost expect him to score a great goal with that much time and space, P. Neville was nowhere to be found.

It's amazing how few posts there are in here given the usual rate, but I attribute it to the trolls not having updated their subscriptions to the new thread yet.
