Everyone says that in a penalty shootout, it's always best to go first because then you you can always apply pressure on the other team. That always struck me as unfair.

Right now, its: Team A, Team B, A, B, A, B, A, B, A, B. In a fairly even shootout (most of them are), Team B always has to react to the pressure that Team A is putting on them.

What if they organized it like tennis, where instead of alternating one to one it goes: A, B, B, A, A, B, B, A, A, B. That way both teams can alternate at who's pressuing who and Team B isn't always tring to fight out of a hole.

Anyway, random thought.

Cheers!

If you can come up with stats showing how "Team A" usually fairs as oppossed to "Team B" then I might see a point to this...other wise, if it's "Team A" against Germany -- I'd say "Team A" is screwed!!

None really. It's just always something that bothers me, and yesterday while meandering on YouTube I caught the video of the MLS Cup XI shootout. Seems like New England was being pushed with every kick in a way Houston wasn't.
