Congrats to Mats. Never hurts to have another national team player. I do find the call up quite interesting. What are other people's thoughts on this?

Its alittle suprising. But its aways good to have a scrapper like flamini on your team so i could see why they would want him

the French NT has A LOT of defenders out w/ injury at the moment. I am curious to see if he gets another call up, but am afraid this is just a one-off. Every little while I check lequipe.fr and someone else has dropped off!

I think he is a good guy to have around for the French for the same reason he is good for us. It is always nice to know that one guy can fill-in at numerous positions as you are freed up to take chances on other picks (i.e. carry young guys who may or may not represent depth at every position).
On the team more for range than excelling at any one position.

I remember before the WC when Matty was campaigning to be included, looks like it finally payed off. I think France could use a multi-positional workaholic like Matty, more than say Trezeguet or Mexes.

I thought the same exactly. He works so hard, even if he doesn't always play with grace and flair--and his work rate has made a difference. I hope France doesn't tire him...

It's more like he's gonna tire himself out for France because he wants to make a good impression. That is if he plays which I don't think he will.

Go Flamini! He should have been at the World Cup last year in my opinion.

Well, i should say a well deserved one .. He worked hard for us, and Dom. hopes he works his a$$ off for the French NT too ..

Just another opportunity for a player to pick up an injury.
