How are we defining CM? Just anyone who plays near the middle? Because we're having Pirlo and Essien in the same discussion.
Idk why no one has mentioned Patrick Vieira or Gennaro Gattuso. I would put my boy Ruben Baraja out there.

And i don't think Gago deserves a mention yet.

deco, kaka, juninho, lucho, fabergas, scholes, diego, lampard....
i htink that Diego is better the Frings....
ANderson def on fer future
when speaking of central midfielders i considered DM, CM and AM...any one who plays in the middle
Frings is much better than Diego. Diego is a talented attacking midfielder. Frings can do and play just about anything.

Steven Gerrard for me.
He has everything to be the best, good shooting, passing ability, good technique, vision....
But in the future, Spain will have 2 great midfielders: Fabregas and Iniesta. They are absolutely fantastic in the pitch, they have a variety of abilities (passing, vision, tactics, teamwork..) and they are both very clever!
Xavi is also a fenomenal midfielder!

For me Gerrard is not yet good every game. That's the only thing what he still misses

Such a player doesn't exist. No player is good every single game.

Jamie Carragher
As great as he is, he had a short run of poor form at the beginning of the season. He recovered really well though, he's been immense as of late.

I've seen games where they've been crap.
No player or team is good all the time.

Admittedly not every single game but I've seen and heard enough to know that neither had perfect games all season long.
Just look at Xavi against Liverpool in both legs. Where were those good games?
