"You’ve got to say United are starting to look unstoppable," he told the official Liverpool website. "But we'll keep pushing them and the main target is to keep winning games and see where we are when they come to our place.

********, I hope we stuff them. That game has been on my mind since we trounced them at OT.

It's going to be a tough game. Liverpool may be in happy form after a good result away to Barca.
You've got to be confident about United though, as long as they are at full strength. I think United have the strength at the back to soak up Liverpool pressure, and perhaps Liverpool do not have the guile of Arsenal to punish any little slip ups.
I am quite hopeful about United in the "hard" games. It's the games that they should win, like home to Charlton, that worry me more. I fear they might get sloppy like in the Sunderland game last year.

When I read that quote, I imagine Gerrard saying it a little wistfully, secretly wondering about what might have been.
Good for Gerrard that he stayed with his boyhood team, even if the manager is a loon.
Recipe for becoming "unstoppable": Don't buy useless wingers, no matter how cheap they are. Don't needlessly rotate your squad so that no one can find a rhythm. Don't build yourself for Europe at the expense of the Prem.

I'm more interested in what Pancake has to say about United.

They are a proper striker away from being...serious.
A Rush or Aldridge caliber finisher, and they really will be a threat..A striker who can bail them out of their numerous shite games and give them 'undeserved wins' will make all the difference.
The game is going to be high octane, and after the incidents last season it'll have the nastiest of edges to it.

Two things about that: One, I trust Benitez to never identify the proper striker. Two, in the event that they do acquire a top striker, I trust Benitez to periodically bench him.

A striker would be useful, but their wingers are garbage. Luis Garcia is moody, only has good matches every once in awhile. And Gonzalez and Pennant are garbage. Look at the quality of service we get, and look at the shite that they have. A striker would be nice, but they do have more work to do if they want to step up.

It's less than a month away -- March 3. Our next big game. Stevie G will probably try to infiltrate my dreams again; it won't work, as usual.
I am looking forward to a little bit of this:

I think his point is that if they get a striker who can convert half chances, they'll be dangerous. (How many "undeserved" wins did Van Nistelrooy give us?)

I got that, I just mean in general terms that I think Liverpool need more to be true Prem challengers.
You're right though, a player like Ruud would have won them the Merseyside derby.

this side may be built for the Prem, but because of the form of Carrick, Scholes, and having the best player in the world - Utd have got to be considered a favorite. I mean, just look at this team.
Rio and Vidic can handle any forward line and Scholes and Carrick are simply brushing past most midfields. They even played about even with Arsenal's, and that's almost impossible to do.
Ronaldo, however, is the real key. He's been simply unbelievable this year

I think the real key is in central midfield, where we'lll likely be found wanting against the best teams in Europe.

there isn't any easy answer there. I think that's why Sir Alex so badly wanted Hargraeves. O'Shea proved that he wasn't capable of being a destroyer at this level.
All you can hope to do is that if Utd draw a team with a strong center pairing that Carrick is up for it.

But look at the positives. I would put our back line and attack up against anyone in Europe.

yep.
at the highest levels, backlines and front lines are fairly close (relatively). The matches will be won in the middle of the pitch. Just look at Liverpool and Arsenal last year.
