who do you want to host EURO in 2012?

I had favored Italy until this weekend. I had thought they could use the stadium renovations, and they had a big enough league that any new stadiums would not be useless. After the violence in that killed the police officer this weekend, in addition to the fixing scandal, Italy should not be hosts at this time. So, I really don't know, I voted for Ukraine/Poland, but it was toss up.

Italy. The events over the weekend were tragic but can somebody honestly say that they stadiums in Croatia and Ukraine are better than Italy's stadiums? Are the hooligans in Croatia and Ukraine more friendly than Italy's ones?

Everybody knows about italy's problems because there is more media coverage and it's in the more modernised part of Europe.

Well, we're still waiting for the first mass riot, killing, etc. I mean even the Italian press said it would be better not to think about Euro now and start solving serious problems Italian football is facing.

Anyway, if you consider everything that has happened lately (Poland and Ukraine have practicaly given up due to Poland's goverment interference in the work of their FA, I doubt they stand a chance) it would be fair to see Croatia/Hungary win it. No reason to disrespect our bid, what we miss, we'll build (both goverments have given their guarantees). Of course, had Johansson stayed things would be a bit different, we'll see did UEFA really change for the better.

Outside of the San Siro, Olimpico, and Torino's stadium. Yes, yes I can.

Italy has some fantasically ************ stadiums. Catania's looked like something out of Sudan.

Actually, even San Siro isn't UEFA's 5 stars stadium (needed for Euro). Our stadiums are not sth to be proud of at the moment, but it's not like Italy has the edge with the stadiums factor, they would have to put a lot of effort in renewing them.

There's a "feasibility study" going on about whether there should be 24 teams in Euro 2012.

Could the candidates handle it?

Out of the choices I picked Poland/Ukraine.

Italy doesn't have a chance now.

Its chances have probably multiplied, believe it or not, since the Fatti di Catania.

Now there is more security among the stadia as the Legge Pisanu is enforced, and the stadia that are not up to standards are being worked on so they can hold fans in. And that includes Catania's Massimino stadium.

I hope for the good of Croatia and Hungary that their bid doesn`t get picked.

It would be a big financial strain and the infrastructure that would be built for it wouldn`t be used afterwards. Croatia has no need for four stadiums of capacity of over 35,000+ and 4-star hotels in 4 of its "cities".

A 35,000 stadium in Osijek (4th biggest town in Croatia with 110,000 inhabitants) would be a waste. After the Euro it would maybe fill two thirds of its capacity twice maybe thrice a year (Dinamo and Hajduk visits in the league and maybe a cup finals) and this in near ideal conditions. While most of the year it would stand there near empty while sucking out big money from the Osijek football club and the town budget for maintaince.

And a 4 star hotel in the town (needed by rules of UEFA to accomodate the teams and their staff) would be used even less (the town is in a region that is akin to Nebraska - endless flatland covered in cornfields - the farthest thing from a tourist magnet).

I say Italy. They need to modernise the stadiums anyway so why not do it for Euro?

Italy. Because they deserve it

What exactly do you do to "deserve" to host a Euro?

Holland, of course:cool:

Er...they just had it...and it was a co-hosting.

1996 - England
2000 - Belgium/Holland
2004 - Portugal

next;
2008 - Austria/Switzerland

I would give it to Spain or France for their infrastructure and stadiums...or Germany. They've proven they can do it and do it right, not sure if they'd want to though. Scandinavia as a whole could probably host it as well. Italy and their hooligans blew it for me!

Italy. Because they deserve it
...about as much as they deserved the title of "Champions" last summer....
