Yeah, as I wrote: Very solid debut. He definitely blended in well with the rest of the squad. Should have scored once more, though, when he had the chance early in the second half. Kuranyi actually even left a better impression.

Early days, I guess. Anyway good to see that we are not completely dependent on Klose's goals, which looked worrying for a while. Tutto e calcolato e non funziona niente!

Fun match to watch.... they looked as solid as ever (minus that little Lehmann misstep) .

Nice to see Gomez score. He could be a good replacement for Klose in the Czech match.

Yeah, good and solid match. I'm still waiting for them to get an opponent who will actually give them a bit of trouble. It was a defense misstep, not a Lehmann misstep, though. ;) Cannot be blamed for the Swiss consolation goal.

Yeah, a defence misstep. (Dunno why I said Lehmann...must be a girl thing. :p )

It was great to have Kuranyi back though.... let's hope things stay this way against the Czechs.

I'm really happy for Kurany for having such a good game (despite that nasty kick in the face.. ). A lot of people seemed to be quite terrified about him getting a call up but he proved them wrong. Well done! And I am not worried about Miro missing the next qualifier anymore, phew.

What an embarrassment for the Swissteam that was!! I don' t know how we manage to tie against Italy :(

The Swiss squad was a joke but it's because you guys played extremely well. Congrats to your squad. We are going to learn how to play soccer (hopefully) and we will see you at the EURO :o

Great first half.

Everyone is solid but I think Ballack is injured. Borowski is likely to come on for him.

Congrats to Gomez on his first goal!

I love this freaking team! The chemistry and team unity is so awesome!

First half wasn't "great", but it was ok mostly with some good moves here and there. But overall still comfortable and they knew it.

Gomez and kuranyi both had very good games. Gomez took to the game like he was going back to his old sunday league club. Fitted in no problem and looked quite skilful and authoritative.

Kuranyi played like klose the whole time he was on. Skilful and authoritative; even more than gomez.

2nd half - first 25 mins saw some very good passing and movement, almost like the world cup matches. Even started to play triangles in defence to pass the ball out when normally longer clearances to a man would happen. Borowski was very good.

Then it became scrappier after 3-0 and the sloppy goal allowed in, but it was a walk in the park by that stage and they did whatever defending they had to do from then on.

I think Germany proved two things last night.

1) Striker is not a position to worry about for a LONG TIME to come. :D

2) The Swiss played over their heads at the World Cup........ :(

2) The Swiss played over their heads at the World Cup........ :(

I don' t know, for a year Switzerland played great and didn' t lose for 15 games. Then the World Cup came and we started playing really bad but we still won a few games... We are just facing a really bad period right now with 3 defeats in a row! (First time in 11 years  )

Anyway, concerning yesterday's games, the Swissteam was missing 4 players that played in the World Cup: Cabanas, Gygax, Muller and Wicky so its a different team much younger. But don' t get me wrong we would have still lost if they would have been here :(

We now suck but you guys have a beautiful team!

2) The Swiss played over their heads at the World Cup........ :(

I don't think so since they were playing a good quali as well and are doing a great youthwork job lately!

I think they simply had too much respect yesterday...

Time will tell.

Yes, they are producing nice talents, but what level will they reach?

Again, time will tell.

I think they will have a strong team at the Euro 2008.

I think so too. They are definitely an up and coming footballing nation. No doubt.

But strong enough to run with the "big boys?"

Like I said, time will tell.......

i dont know about them being a large power, but they have some potential i suppose.

gomez was great, I'll be looking for great things from him in the future.
kuranyi, pretty good, Im impressed with his form.

Lehmann has been off lately, in the EPL as well. Just not his time of the year right now, he'll come around.

I wish i could say the same thing for schweini :(

give the young kids time, they will be much better. Lahm and Piggy begin out of form is definitely bad, but surprisingly, the offensive wing play was a lot better on the other side where Fritz and Friedrich were.

The future is bright my friends, we SHOULD be a footballing power in a year, but I'd be just happy qualifying for the Euro 2008 in this tough group. :)

Dude, I was referring to Switzerland.........

You really think I'm going to say something like can the World Cup third place team "run with the big boys?"

I think they've already proven that well enough.
