View Full Version : Training - Crossing vs. Wing Attacks

So - I am on Hattrick Wiki and looking at the training charts b/c I was looking at Set Pieces.

While I am there I look at a few other things - specifically the difference between Crossing training and Wing Attacks training. I am currently doing the Crossing training and unlikely to change due to the fact I have a potential U-20 winger on my squad.

However, if that was note the case I would be inclined to move to Wing Attacks. The way I looked at it was that crossing gives you six training spots (4 full wings and 4 WBs at half speed). They train up at 5 weeks - so in my basic math 6/5 = 1.2.

Wing attacks on the other hand give wings and forwards training - meaning you could legimately train 10 guys but if you want to run a 3-5-2 for league matches you could still get 9 guys full training. Downside is that it takes 7 weeks. However 9/7 = 1.286 so to me the training still seems to be a smidge higher.

My thought is that once I get my U-20 prospect to the baby nats I am going to switch over to Wing attacks. This way I could take advantage of the friendlys to play three IMs at forward and create a multi-dimensional player that seems to be all the rage in HT right now.

Thoughts? Problems with my logic?

Dont know much about crossing training, but if Mr. Véjar aint an Under 20 international eventually, no one is.

this is an interesting concept, I'm only 2 seasons into winger training but I may start following wing attacks as a option down the line...I should follow in WMD the fortunes of those that train it...

Calvert (Æthelmearc AC, ID=70977) has been doing it since about a season after it was implemented as a training program. He speaks about it every now and then on WMD. Might want to ask a question specifically to him in one of the Q-A threads there. I am sure he would respond with some helpful info.

Except for the fact his form is never better than weak.

Yeah - that is F'ing killing me. Don't know what the punk ass wants - he plays 90% of my first team matches. But - his form has only sucked this year - last year he was passable or solid the whole year.

He has star athlete syndrome.

5 Stars last week and he popped in Wing and he is now Solid form - betting on at least 5.5 stars this week

... its the 18 yr Winger in the middle of the page amongst guys 1 and 2 years older:

http://usa.hatstats.info/stars.php?pos=W&type=L&season=31&round=12&native=1&u20=1

And easily number 1 in his age group playing in the Country:

http://usa.hatstats.info/stars.php?pos=W&type=L&season=31&round=12&native=1&u18=1

Any way to check up on US players playing in other Countries? I tried Hatstats and Alltid but I cant find a feature for this. How does he compare to those potential U20 players playing abroad? Thats list will tell the real story here...

Top 10 with his 5.5 star performance tonight. I really need to get him a little stamina training in the off-season to better utilize his PM skills. However, with my big win tonight I am winning my division (likely will get a qualie as opposed to auto promo) so it will only be one week and not two.

Should be up to 6 stars this week, he's going to have a big wage increase this year.

Depending on what series I drop into, I might try wing attack training this season. Already have a couple of nice FTW trainees, so it's a natural fit.
