Hi everybody.
I wanted to tell you about a great new website: www.usopencup.com
We've always been disappointed that there's no good resource for Open Cup action, so we did something about it.
Check it out.

It would help if you had:
1. Used the research on this site to add in the state association championships
2. Provided standings for the USL qualifications in the links on the right hand side

Patience, grasshopper.
Due to the early stage of the USL seasons, a standings chart would be relatively empty right now. It will be there as the season shapes up.
WRT the USASA qualifiers, we'll post info about each of the regional championships as it becomes available. The finalists have only been set in region II, and those games were played yesterday. I have not been able to find any results yet. One wonders how and why USASA does such a poor job of making this info available.

Nice site. I love the USOC. Thank you for providing this info in an easy to find spot. I'll post a link in USLDiscussions.com.
One suggestion is a link back to the home page/index.
Good luck w/ the site.

Thanks, ChuckA.
The entire top of each page links back to the home page.
Dan Barnes from a-league.com and usldiscussions.com will actually have a department on the site where he'll post articles, etc. We're also hoping to bring in a few other soccer writers what we've either worked with in the past or having a working relationship with. Think major magazine.
Also, if any fans want to submit match reports, we'll post those too.
Just send them to info@usopencup.com

Great Job with the site. I really like it and I hope it will stay up there. Wouldn't be cool to also make a link from the USL soccer website for the USOC site as well from US Soccer?
I also see that this demosphere is the same Website provider that maintains both USOC & USL Websites.
Great job once again.

It's quite possible that USL will be using usopencup.com as their Open Cup section. Gerald Barnhart from USL is already contributing articles to usopencup.com, for which we are greatly appreciative.
As far as a link from USSF, we'll see. They really don't have anything on their site about the USOC, so they have nothing to lose. USSF and Demosphere have worked together for years (we're the Official On Line Resource of USSF) so hopefully they'll appreciate the effort and even add information.
The site will stay up there, no doubt. It's not, however, a revenue producing project for Demosphere. We can always use fan submissions to keep the site full and up to date.
Thanks for all the positive comments.

What's wrong with the sentence...
"USSF doesn't have any link to U.S. Open Cup..."?
This event should get a lot more exposure than it does. The average High School soccer match in suburban D.C. gets more fans that most of the matches in the final stages. BOOOO!
BTW, did you guys see that ref for the Royals/Rage game at RFK on Saturday? I say again... BOOOO! ;-)
(Just kidding Ben! Must have been awesome!)

It should read:
"USSF doesn't have anything about the U.S. Open Cup.."
Who the heck is Ben?

I'll make sure to tell my friends who like soccer about this page. I quite like it. Good job!

Just a question on the # of teams from PDL that will go based on your site. At the PDL link on the site it says:
"The Premier Development League will send six teams to the the US Open Cup. Each team in the league will play four qualifying matches, with one team advancing from each of the league's four divisions and two league-wide wildcards advancing."
But at the First Round link it says:
"The first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup will consist of four games between the United States Adult Soccer Association's four Regional Champions and the four qualifying teams from USL's PDL."
Is it 4 or 6? Not really trying to pick nits, just want to know my teams chances. Thanks!

Thanks! Last year I used http://pointme.to/soccer to keep up with it. (I'll ask that webmaster to add your site to his page!)
Glad someone took the initiative.

6 PDL clubs will go. 4 Conference winners and two best 2nd place will advance.
Two of the six will get automatic bids for 2nd round, while the other 4 will face off against the 4 Region winners of the USASA in Round 1.
Round 1 winners will join the other two PDL clubs in Round 2 against PSL Qualifiers.
Hope that clears it up for you.

You've likely already thought of it but be sure to let Soccer America know about the site and they'll put a link in their daily e-mails to fans to announce it. They have a nice sized mailing list.

We're very friendly with Lynn (the President & Publisher of SA) and hopefully they'll be involved with the project soon.
