Anybody played it here.
Took it out again the other day after geting bored and it's still a tough one to crack.
Takes a long loonnnnnngggggg time to play a game, unless you're defeated of course.
Never beat it at a level higher than king.

It's not really as good as civ2 in my opinion.

it's really stinking hard, i think. a lot harder than Civ2.

i haven't beaten it past whatever the new Civ3 PC equivalent for warlord is.

Way wayyyyyy harder than Civ2 i agree.

I said King..it's actually monarch.
Just can't beat it at this level.
Cities are always in revolt and no matter what i do i'm always attacked by the other civilizations.

I have always tried to get the Great Library wonder first...i'm wondering if i need to change strategy here and go for something else.

I'm not very good, but it depends on the shape of the world. I always put everything on random. If its a whole bunch of little islands, it doesn't make sense to build the Pyramids or somehting else that applies only to cities on one continent. In that case you want to go straight for The Great Lighthouse.
BTW I just got around to downloading the patch...seems to work better. Also I applied to test the new version, but I seriously doubt I got picked. They wanted all the specs for your computer, and I diddn't feel like digging all that info out. But if you're interested, go here:

I didn't have that or the latest patch.
I downloaded it last night and will try it out a bit later.

I know what you mean about the Islands.I always play the Pangaea that way the wonders have effect on all my cities.
Still that new link has given me some new ideas.
