One of the greatest mysteries at WHU. I predict he will go on to be a major force with Liverpool.

having a mate who is a river plate fan, i've been watching mascherano since he was 17 and he was a player i loved watching. so you can imagine how i felt when he turned up at my club! so this now feels like a new low in my supporting life.
in lieu of a reason why this happened i blame that XXXXX Brown (regardless). his last fu for the fans.
that being said, relegation or not, i think the club will turn the corner with the new ownership and grow in stature and Brown's small-time mentality will be gone.
...but how many more years before we will be rid of our mantra "he used to play for west ham..." ?
(or in mashers case "he could've played for west ham...")

I read or heard somewhere that we had to "buy" Mascherano for £25M if he played more than an a certain number of games for us. His "owner/s" regarded him more highly than Tevez. I don't know if this is just rumour but I'm sure we'll see what he ends up costing Liverpool. I guess if Kia had got his hands on WHU he would have featured more often.
Bye Masher, glad we had your services for a while.

I heard something similar, plus there was supposedly a huge fee each time he played.
Shame is there are two quality players being abused by their money hungry owners. Brown probably thought KIA would own West Ham which is why he made the silly deal.

I reckon there is truth in the rumour about the £25m.
When they both arrived everyone was quizzing us about why they came to us and on what kind of contract. As we all remember everyone was trying to discover the catch in their deal. Some said they both had to play every game, others said we were being used as a stop gap before the players were moved onto Chelsea. The bottom line was 'how did we get them so cheap?'.
I think this clause finally answers that question. Kia was happy to park the players at West Ham cheaply knowing that he would either take over the club or not take over and recuperate his money through this clause on Masher's contract.
With the figure being £25m hopefully that (plus the £5m agents fees spent when signing the players) means that Kia wrapped up both players full values in one contract and therefore Tevez won't have a similar sort of deal in his. If he has then all we can hope for is that it is a more realistic figure and one we are willing to pay. Of course if he doesn't start scoring or if he decides he is no longer happy with us then this will probably not be an issue.
I am sure Tevez's contract is still a 'complicated' one but I am optimistic that he won't have such a clause and if he starts banging the goals in then we will have come out of this awkward situation smelling of roses.
I wait with anticipation at the kind of contract Liverpool agree to with Masher and how much the transfer fee will be, if these details are ever made public.
