I really have no idea, he could still be here in 10 years. But sadly it looks likely him leaving will be an issue every summer.. sad really. I'll get back with a longer post after the game...

It's really hard to read him. His agent keep talking sh*t on him leaving to Spain. However, on the field, it looks he does really enjoy playing for United.

In terms on how much longer, I will guess he will be here as long as Sir Alex is here. I think Sir Alex is smart enough to keep him here during his reign.

I think he'll be gone before he turns 25. When does his contract expire? 2010? 2009 would be my guess then.

A coupla factors:

1) If we aren't winning trophies, he won't be here long. I picked 2 seasons, because I think winning the Prem and the FA cup will regularly be within reach, but (as much as I want to believe) Europe will continue to be elusive, at least for the next season or two. He'll want to win some Champions League titles.

2) One factor I can't really evaluate is Ronaldo's ego force. Here's the deal: he's the best player on our team right now. He just is. He knows that. (Scholes is another contender, but Scholes is not at all a flair player, and Ronaldo is taking alot of the glory). I certainly wouldn't give up being THE star player for a Manchester United caliber team to try out another team. I'd rather be an all time great player at one team than play in every league in Europe. I don't think Ronaldo shares my mindset, but he hasn't been THE star of United for very long. I think this status might rub off on him with time. If he stays beyond 2 years, I predict he'll stay ALOT longer, the majority of his career in fact. We have to see how being here works on his mentality, though.

gotta agree with grod, at the moment, it seems that he should be here as long as SAF is here. however, once fergal has retired, ronnie's mindset may have changed, and he may stay a bit longer...

I just say we include a clause in his contract that says he can't be sold to Real Madrid :D :D

Seriously though I think going to Madrid would be a mistake that ship is sinking more and more every year....

Win the Prem this year, and his leaving would be a concern. REad an article on either Sky or FSC where he stated an ambition to add the Prem to his Utd. medal collection. He has the Beer Cup and and FA Cup medals already. He would then have all three English trophys. The only thing then would be a CL trophy and if he felt Utd could do it short term, I think he'd stay. Otherwise, he just might go this summer.

nah, i remember that interview, it was after we had won the FA cup. he basically said he wanted to win the lot with united, and then move on...

If it's any consolation, hopefully he won't be leaving for nothing. You have to think it depends on United's success though.

Although i would love for ronaldo to stay at United....its seems unlikely...
he is not adored on the same level as rooney is...

the signs for ronaldo leaving united are quite ominous....and remind me of the becks transfer....

madrid players opening their mouths and saying they would welcome becks....
the heirarchy of madrid denying the story....Ronaldo;s agent opening his mouth...

I think ronaldo would like to see himself as a saviour of Madrid just like ronaldinho....would like to get the team back to its past glory...

For now, I just think its the agents trying to broker a bigger pay check for Ronaldo. But eventually I do see Ronaldo moving to Spain, whether it's at the end of next season, or in five years time...I have no idea.

his father's fav club was benfica so by nature, he became a benfica fan as well. then he went to sporting's academy blah blah blah rest is history.

we have to keep in mind that his dream club is the gaylacticos. aside from portugals clubs, RM is the "dream club" for the majority of youngsters over there. I won't slate him if he wants a move to RM. That's his preference. As long it commands a big big fee, I'm ehhhhh. We still got Rooney. And that one won't go anywhere. :)

Edit: Could the brits waste more pollution over there? ya know, it might get warmer/sunnier. not so much rain. i think hell stay then :D

I think we may get one more season out of him but that will be that. He will go to Spain, hopefully to Barca and nor Real Madrid.
We better get HUGE money for him.

TBH Barca has absolutely no need for him. He'll prolly rot the rest of his life away if he goes to Madrid. If he goes there he won't win a piece of silverware EVER!

I think that Ronaldo probably wanted to leave last year even before the WC. The reasons? Completely rational ones. First, the problems with RVN. Second, the problems with refs on the field -- being kicked, red card against City. Third -- problems with the fans & the press. Beyond that, he probably didn't like the weather either.

So....this year? There's no more RVN, but I don't think that problems #2 and #3 have gotten all that much better. Certainly the threats at the beginning of the year wouldn't make him want to come back.

It's not like the problem is completely out of Man Utd's control though. They could, for example, acquire more Latin players and coaches (both Heinze and Queiroz seem to be going -- what do you think will happen). The premier league could start treating Ronaldo more like they treat Henry -- rather than as a slightly (extremely?) suspect misfit.

So, how long he remains depends on circumstances. If Utd are winning and he's playing well and being universally acclaimed, he'll probably stay. If Utd are winning and he's playing well, but Rooney is being universally acclaimed, maybe not. If Queiros or Heinze or SAF goes, maybe he'll go -- unless he likes the replacements. If Utd heap honors and money and praise on Rooney, but not so much on Ronaldo, probably he'll leave.

As someone else said, he can't work in Manchester and go to his Mom's house for lunch on Sunday. There has to be other reasons to keep him.

I think he's going to be at our team for 2 more seasons, then he's off to Spain.

i dnt think it is going to b possible to predict how much longer Ronaldo will be with united..... just by loking at the voting you can see it is all over the place....united are a big club with alot of future potential... if u pay him well i dnt seee him lving unless he wants to win as many diffrent trophies as possible
