Ok, don't crucify me on this, but since it looks like RSL will be sold due to not getting their stadium deal done, don't you think it would be AWSOME to have a rival team in houston? Local darbys, orange against some other secondary color? Maybe give them to one of these suburbs in the middle of nowhere (webster, are you listening?) and they can be the white collar team, and the dynamo can be the blue collar downtown team. I feel an Arsenal-Tottenham derby sensation just thinking about it!

You're jumpin the guns here Junior. That can't/won't/shouldn't happen for atleast 20 years. The Dynamo still need to really entrench themselves in this city before that can happen. Heck, they still haven't really tapped the Hispanic population in town yet. Let them have a chance to have a history

After maybe 15-20 years, maybe. For now, so many big cities could use a team. If another team came to Texas, I wanna see San Antonio on the soccer map.

It'll never happen here. There just isn't the geographic, economic, or ethnic borders that other cities with cross-town rivals have.

Here, everything points into the city center. It's not like Orange County-LA, San Francisco-Oakland with a bay between, North Side-South Side in Chicago, or all of the above that exists in NY/NJ for all major sports.

The only metroplex in Texas that could even possibly consider it would be Dalls/Ft.Worth...and they suck.

We're more like Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh/Phillie) or Florida (Jacksonville/Tampa/Miami). San Antonio or Austin would make a good MSL level rival. Or maybe USL1's in those cities, plus El Paso, would make for an interesting Texas Derby.

I really hope Salt Lake can keep that team. I think it would be devestating for MLS to lose another team or to move it. The credibility of the league would be gone in the eyes of many (not me so don't assault me on this).

I agree, but I think that Fake Salt Lake will move...and the MLS will lose credibility in my eyes if it does. Sorry, I calls 'em like I see them. You can't grant an expansion based on all your analytical data and then have the team move 2 years later. Makes the MLS, and those who ran the numbers, look like jackasses.

As for a crosstown rival, the Dynamo would be the OGs and any secondary team would be a sham for fair-weather fans. :D

No.

San Antonio or Austin would be a better choice than Houston MLS 2. I would say that a MLS Club America would be a good fit in Houston, but the Dynamo have done a good job attracting fans of all ethnicities, so why try to split the Mexican fans off?

So again, No.

Well maybe eventually, but not at the expense of another team. Let the Dynamo get a stadium and a solid fan base before that happens...

Nah. We already have our rivals right up I-45 North. Houston's not used to having two pro teams in the same sport. LA/NY/Chicago can get away with it but not us, I don't think.

If anything, perhaps a USL team in Sugarland, Pearland, Woodlands, or Webster, if there were an investor involved for the team, plus split the deal with a high-school stadium. All were talking at one point about having Dynamo to be part of some kind of urban development. One of the four could have a team represent THEIR town.

Even that's a long shot. But if there were another soccer team in the Houston metro, that's the only way I see it happening.

I don't want to see it happen because it would split the fan base.

Chivas and Dallas are indeed the enemy.

And I think it'd be pretty stupid to be adding second teams to certain cities.
