He acts as though Beckham invented the free kick goal and is the only guy in the world that can score off of freekicks. I don't think that the brasileans would like this article much.

Deford also doesnt mention WHY Fergie had him riding the pine (because of the bitch-slapping Carlos handed him in the first leg of the tie).

I think Fergie got it SPOT ON. having Beckham sit and stew got him a little fired up, then putting him on when United here having a plethora of scoring chances didnt hurt either.

IF Beckham stays with United, I would be surprised if he saw a future Champions League starting position when playing at the Bernabeu. He simply can't handle Carlos

Solskjaer seemed to be doing a good job against him in the 2nd game - Carlos was on the backfoot more often than not.

I dont remember Carlos having any space to work in - unlike the freedom he was given in the first leg.

There seemed to be alot of crosses comming in to Ruud from that side as well - best defence in a good offence?

then who is? Carlos is a full-back. Ole -a forward, is the FIRST line of defence.

remember, we are NOT talking about Arsenal - we are talking about United, whos' forwards will track back, and put pressure on the opponents, and will also try to stop defence from breaking out.

Frank the Fossil does hate soccer, I was stunned to hear this commentary on NPR last week. It was a total love fest. stunned.

I think that Deford gets large amount of hate mail from soccer fans, and that he did this piece just to get them off his back.
