Someone have the official count - would this make 28 if I count right? Could we scare up four more teams to make it a nice even 32 - four divisions of 8. I could possibly put out some feelers to teams in my previous conferences if we decide to go that way.

everyone is starting from scratch here... the only possible disadvantage would be if you can't afford to hire the full # of scouts, but that might be the case for the other squads in your division as well. have a look at what the hattricks say about the new system before opting out.

I'm too minted right now. Just bought a new coach and 6 assistants. Not to mention a young Oceanic defender.

It costs what 5K a week to have a poor youth squad? And the site is down so I can't really read up on the new youth system. Wanna give me a brief overview?

well, i gather the site is down because they're installing the new youth system as we speak. that's what everyone seems to think anyway as this was planned downtime. i expect that when they bring the site back up there will be a message giving the details about the new youth system. from what they've leaked so far, you have to hire scouts, at least one, up to three. each week your first scout brings a player, who you either take on your youth team or decline. if you decline, the second scout brings a player (if you hired a second scout). each scout is supposed to have the same chance of bringing you a good player, but if you have 2 or 3 you get the chance to roll the dice again if you need to.

it's going to cost at least 5k though for one scout, so if that's too much for you right now no biggie. you can always start later if you wish.

my biggest fear with the new YP is that it will add to the biggest flaw in HT, that's teams have no incentive to promote and that it actually becomes preferable to throw play off games to stay in a lower division. The original editorial mentioned extra points that could be given to training a player based on how your senior squad have done the week before.
So playing in a lower league, where you can win every game, now gives teams even more of an advantages and gives teams no incentive to promote to a higer harder division where they will struggle to stay afloat.

If this is the case, i'll think i will give up finally on HT. i nearly quit two seasons ago but found my self top of a div 4, gave everything i could to win the Playoff and now have won my div 3, and tried my hardest to win that playoff. If HT penalises me for trying to reach the top and gives a huge advantage to the crappy teams with no ambition to climb higher, i am done.

did it really say that?..seems strange. You are right that it makes little sense. They need to do more in the way of incentives to move up, not less.
