Due to my girlfriend being German, I decided to follow the National Team during the World Cup more than I usually would. I got hooked. That being said, I want to be able to follow the Nationalelf a little better. Is there a place where I can get dvds of old games? Also, I do need to learn some songs.
Danke for your help

To make things a bit easier for you...
This is a box set with all 7 matches of the German team at the Worldcup 2006 spread over 8 DVD's (dunno what's on the eighth):
http://www.amazon.de/FIFA-WM-2006-Deutschland-DVDs/dp/B000KHXDVQ/sr=1-2/qid=1169541713/ref=pd_bowtega_2/302-9389197-9495230?ie=UTF8&s=dvd
And that's the documentary you may already have heard of, directed by Sönke Wortmann:

I'm afraid the DVD won't be released until February 8th so you may have to wait a little longer but as I said: There should be German subs, but no English ones.

That DVD looks great, but I hope they make a version that can be played on Region 1 DVD players.

Are region free DVD players still expensive there??
I ask because I doubt that thing will ever come out on Region 1.
Or, if you have a fairly new computer, change the DVD player to region 2.

Ich spreche null ein bissen Deutsch.
I think I'll go get a region free dvd player sometime soon. Seems well worth the price.
I watched the '82 semi against France and the '74 Final on fifa.com, and that was a classic.
I had a great time in Dortmund back in March when the US played Germany.

Ich spreche null ein bissen Deutsch.
Ich denke du meinst, "Ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch" Oder vielleicht "Ich spreche kein Deutsch?"
But that was GREAT!! I would be embarrassed to tell you how long it took me to get there or to even spell "Deutsch" properly. So many forget that "s" and spell it "Deutch".
And I'm still not fluent!! I think you'll get there!
Shit, I might have messed up right up there! LOL!! :D

If you know anyone in any of our armed services, ask them about it. We get them cheaper, but can't get caught shipping them to others.
Well, the ones we get here aren't "region free", but they play PAL (Most of Europe) and NTSC (USA).
I had a great time in Dortmund back in March when the US played Germany.
I was upset that I didn't get back in time for that match! I returned to Germany in April!!

Know what? You guys (all of you!) should definitely write an email to Kinowelt who will be releasing that movie!
http://www.kinowelt.de/detail.php?id=1613&art=khe
They won't be able to change anything about the DVD that is scheduled for February BUT I read that there may be an Ultimate Edition somewhat later this year with a shitload of additional special features. Thus, if they get a certain number of requests for English subs they may change their minds after all. I know that there were showings abroad so the track should already exist. Their standard email is: info@kinowelt.de

do they really think that only people in germany would be interested in that dvd??
c'mon that is just slack. how can you not have english subtitles.
almost any old piece of crap has english subtitles; just by default almost.
well I'll try what you said iltedesco, and I reckon everyone else here (including footyfan :D) who doesnt speak german should try too.

If I'm not mistaken I actually asked them once to put English subs on the DVD and they replied that they couldn't because of legal reasons since the movie had also been sold to other countries which left them only the rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (and thus only the German language / subs).
Anyway, give it a shot nonetheless! It won't take you more than 5 minutes to do so and if their reply is similar to what I just wrote in the previous paragraph you can still ask them if the rights were sold to the UK or the US and (if so) to which company.
