It's getting closer - per livescore.com:
76' Ajax Amsterdam [3 - 1] Werder Bremen
3' [1 - 0] S. Leonardo
14' [1 - 1] H. Almeida
60' [2 - 1] K.J. Huntelaar
74' [3 - 1] R. Babel
AGGREGATE: Ajax 3-4 Bremen
Can Bremen keeping Ajax from 2 more scores?

Pretty damn close though... This tie had a hell of a lot of 'ifs' to it, not in the least the 2-0 in Bremen.
But at least we showed we can actually play football if we take the initiative. With Stam in the back we really should.
A little bit of hope for the upcoming psv and az games, and an amusing game.

They BARELY did!! They are only through because of Wiese's performance!
Schaaf just criticized the team for being "too passive" and Wiese was still getting on guys even after the final whistle.
I'm damned happy Werder are through, but what a s#itty performance.
Only Wiese saved their asses tonight.

Congratulations on advancing.
I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the ref in Bremen though. His 2 screw ups in Bremen, and tonights stupid stupid defensive action by Roger were our downfall. Anyways, we actually came close a couple of times so I'm not that bummed considering I had little to no hope of pulling of a miracle, with most our backline being injured in both matches. We didn't do bad at all tonight.
Oh well..... Good luck in the next round.

And they did! Final 14 + stoppage were scoreless!
And it's on to Vigo.
Next round games are March 8 and 14 or 15.

My god, what a horrible performance - it was painful to watch.
Somebody please give Wiese a pay raise! It's sad that it took a practically super-human performance by the goalkeeper to keep a 3-1 loss from being a 5-1 disaster.
I'm still in shock. Considering Wiese's mood after the game, I'd hate to see what's going on in private in the locker room right about now. You might see a few defenders with unexplainable black eyes on the field for Sunday's match against Gladbach....and I won't exactly feel sorry for them.
WTF is up with the defense anyway?
1:8 goals over the last three Bundesliga games and now this?
They totally lost confidence and looked like the defense of old except that they're not scoring anymore like they used to to back then.
Are they missing Klasnic that bad up front?

I'm pretty confident they'll get their shyte together.
And Ajax was never going to be easy, they're not the Ajax of old but they will always have talent in the squad to trouble teams.
As of right now, Congrats.
Hopefully Werder gets an easier opponent in the next round.

...Hopefully Werder gets an easier opponent in the next round.
As noted above, it's Celta Vigo!

congrats to werder... i never thought the game would be the way it was... i was sort of expecting a walk in the park, but it was the complete opposite. anyways, i hope werder gets their act together in the nex round against celta vigo (you can still take your time in the BL though ;)). somehow werder reminded me of bayern in the second half... but the only thing that counts right now is that they're in the next round, so congratulations.

Sorry!
Celta Vigo is certainly dooable although Spanish teams are always tricky.

Congrats on reaching the next round! It was a tough job though ... since Ajax played superbly after interval, whereas Werder's defence made a really weak impression on me. Without Tim Wiese it could easily have been a higher defeat in the end, although Werder missed many good chances as well.
Let's hope that you play like in this 2nd half on Sunday too...;)

er.. yeah..well done.
not exactly swashbuckling but through nonetheless and I'm sure they'll get some form back before the celta vigo match. It was only a few weeks ago that they were on top of the BL and in form...

The 2nd half yesterday was the worst Werder performance since Pasching. If we get a draw against Gladbach it would be a success after 4 losses out of the last 5 matches.
