Exactly 45 years after the last time the Black Country Derby was contested in the F.A. Cup (a 1-2 Albion win at the Molineux on 28th Jan 1962), the current Albion side will work to do precisely what their predecessors did those years ago: knock the Dingles out of the Cup in their own stadium.

We crushed them the last time we played, but that was at the Hawthorns. Both teams appear to be in the ascendancy within the league, and they remain just a few points behind us. I'm certain that if our team play they way they are capable, we should be able to beat them at the Custard Bowl: both Sunday and in the league fixture in March.

I really hope so. Although, i'd take a win there in the league over one in the cup. All week their so called fans have been moaning that they've had to move out of their 'South Bank' to make room for the 5,600 Albion fans. They're pathetic. In recent seasons barring this one, we've always given them the whole of our Smethwick End when they've visited us but as soon as it happens to them they moan about it. It sums them up really. I can see a draw coming which means we'll end up playing them 4 times this season. Typical.

I seem to recall reading that more than a few Wulfs were not happy getting the whole of the Smethwick during our first league meeting this year.

It's different rules because it's the FA Cup, right? Perhaps we might get less tickets there in March. Didn't we give Leeds the Smethwick during our previous Cup match?

Yeah thats right but they didn't even come close to filling it. Also I think your correct in saying it's different rules for cup matches......the percentage allocated is higher.
In the previous league games with that lot at our place, we didn't have to give them the Smethwick but we did and now they are moaning that they MUST do the same. What a bunch of clowns.
I'm not going on Sunday, it's more trouble than it's worth i reckon but i know some lads who are and they can't wait. I'm really hoping we've got a new player by then but it's not looking good.

Actually I mis-typed my post above... I meant that earlier this season we HADN'T given them the whole of the Smethwick (unlike previous seasons). For the first time in a long while, the stand was split between their fans and our fans. This video I found on Youtube shows it clearly:

That's what they are probably not happy about the fact that we get the whole of the Jack Harris Stand at the Molineux Sunday. As I said before, it might be because of the Cup, and we might get less at their place in the league fixture.

I'm definitely counting the days. I too hope we can get someone in soon; the window's almost shut.

For Cup matches it's 15%, for Premier League it's 3,000 or 10% (whichevers lower). I'd assume it's probably similar for the Football League.

The ticketing issue:

The allocation for the FA Cup is 15%, unless the visiting club asks for less. WBA, as is their right, and since they could easily sell them for a derby, asked for the full allocation.

The initial plan, from Wolves' point of view was to put the Albion supporters in two different stands , I believe it would have been in the lower South Bank, and part of the Steve Bull lower stand on the side. This was shot down by the West Midlands Police, who wanted all the Albion supporters in one place, so the decision was made to put them all into the South Bank.

The entire ticketing system for this match has been a bit of a disaster from the point of view of Wolves supporters, I think.

Think we both got our wires crossed, i thought you were referring to the Leeds game in the cup when we gave them the whole of the Smethwick and it proved pointless because they didn't fill it.

Kwik1980 - a lot of tatters queued all night outside the ground the other night in order to get tickets for tomorrow. When the office opened the following morning signs were displayed saying 'telesales only' - to the anger of the fans who had waited all night. It just goes to show the shambles behind the scenes over there - Jez Moxey being at the centre of it. In the end, they saw sense and had to sell the tickets to the fans there and then. It's just going to add to the spice tomorrow. Roads around the ground are closed from 10am and the police are dreading it.

Well it started out with a lot of pressure from the W***es but we had the better chances in the latter half. Our pressure finally paid off just before half time with the swift Kamara leaving defenders in his wake and easily rounding Matt Murray for our goal.

The W***es only have Craig Davies up front, and I have to imagine McCarthy will put another striker up for them in the second half.

We did leave quite a few decent chances untaken in the first half. Hopefully we'll get a few more in the second half and bury the Dingles.

Phillips puts us 2-0 up!! :D

W****s FINALLY switch to a more attacking 4-4-2.

Great win all round. It probably should have been six goals or more for us. The Dingles simply were not up for this match. I was expecting a closer match than our previous encounter, but I'll gladly take the same result.

There's a good chance we won't make the Final, but a good FA Cup run might not be too bad. We must keep our focus on moving up in the league, however. Those automatic promotion spots are nearing touching distance.

I don't think i'm over it yet but i'm not doing much at the mo so i thought i'd come and post my thoughts. What a match! Through the benefits of the net i watched it on some Chinese thing while listening to the commentary on the radio. I SHOULD have gone but i chose not to because i thought it wud be too much hassle - and there have been reports of trouble outside the ground afterwards so knowing my hotheaded temperament i probably would have been lobbing bricks at the tatters myself.

Anyway in regards to the game we were fantstic. They never caused a problem, the only time they looked like posing a threat was when Zubie played up. We need a keeper! Greening and Chaplow might look lightweight but today they controlled it and looked really steady. It was so pleasing to see us put it together away from and look so comfortable. In the end we were just taking the piss......'3-0 AND WE'VE GOT YOUR SEATS'...........'MOXEY, GIVE US A WAVE' followed by 'YOUR JUST A FAT DINGLE BASTARD'. Even Tom Ross and Bomber were pissing themselves at the chants. I'm absolutley delighted. I know we won't win the cup, but to go to their place and hammer em is so satisfying, i'll never forget it, it doesn't matter whether it's league or cup. All you could hear through the 90 minutes was the Albion fans. We were a class apart on and off the pitch - our away support is one of THE finest in the country.

On the phone ins afterwards even the Wolves fans - on Beacon Radio and Radio WM (both biased towards the tatters) - were admitting it was men against boys. On BRMB ( Albion and Blues biased), i could tell Tom Ross was delighted. Words can't express it really, i'm just so happy with the result! I'll go to work in Tipton tomorrow and drive past 'The Lagoon' laughing at all the dingles. All the lads at work are Albion so theres nobody to take the piss out of. Tipton will be full of Albion shirts tomorrow.
