Does anyone here subscribe or read newspapers? I don't mean online because thats not the same thing. Does anyone here actually still pay 50 cents for the globe or herald?

I subscribe to the Boston Globe, Boston Herald and New York Times. And I was wondering if there is anybody here who still likes actual newsprint?

(If this sounds like a really creepy personal ad I appologize.)

Nope. I read a variety of them (LA Times, the Boston Papers, Orlando Sentinel, KC Star, Washington Post, etc) online constantly, but that's it.

I subscribe to the Washington post. Speaking of creepy, I like the smell of newsprint.

I get home delivery of the Boston Globe, mostly for the Comics and the Suduku, and that is how I wake up in the morning, reading the paper with my breakfast, been doing that since as long as I can remember. The last thing I do before going to sleep is the Suduku, crossword and word jumble

I don't subscribe to the papers because thats unamerican. Really, it is. Our president doesn't read the papers. Hell he doesn't even read CIA breifs about terrorist about to strike in the US. So if not reading is good enough to be president, it audio books and podcasts for me. SUCK IT YOU COMMIES

I've been a regular newspaper reader most of my life, and that fact that it's going out of fashion isn't enough to make me want to stop.

I read the Manchester Union Leader (as it was still called in those days) growing up in New Hampshire and the New York Times and/or the Courant in college in Connecticut. I've had home delivery of the Globe since 1989 I believe.

Anything else I read online as a time saver.

The Drudge Report? Really? Why?

For my jolt of conservative slanted news and headlines.

Why subscribe and pay for a newspaper when you can get the same content for free online? I do purchase the Sunday newspaper for advertisements and coupons.

In print, just the Globe. And even that only cause I don't have to pay for it.

Online, I'll read the Herald, Times, International Herald-Tribune, and the MetroWest Daily News. I'll look to see if there's anything interesting in the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.

And if I'm really feeling ambitious, Investor's Business Daily.

I used to subscribe to the Globe until I moved into a condo complex. If I subscribed now it would just get stolen. I read it online now.

I used to love reading the papers, chilling out with a cup of coffee in the morning and catching up on the news.

But now I really don't have the time to sit and read like that, and I can read the papers online while I'm at work if there's anything I want to read.

I don't have the block of time it takes to read a newspaper, much as I'd like.

Not to mention that the headings make online reading faster--to get what I want and skip over the Oprah-esque piffle I don't.

But to tell the truth, I read MORE articles online daily during lulls at work than I ever did from newsprint. Twice or three times as many. Just from different sources. (WaPo, LATimes, Guardian, Globe, etc.)

The one thing I NEVER do is watch local news, though. I can literally feel my brain dying if I spend more than a minute or two with those people.

I cheat and get the Globe, Herald, and USA Today at work for free, Monday through Friday. However, I do pay for Sat & Sun home delivery for the Globe, and Sunday delivery of the MetroWest Daily News. I have wanted to eliminate the Globe on weekends, but everytime we try they always end up offering it to us at some ridiculous price that no sane person could refuse.

Ahhh, nothing like sitting on your front stoop on a Sunday morning, coffee and paper, birds chirping...

I still subscribe to the Courant. But sometimes I think I should just get papers at the newsstand, because relying on just one isn't good. I like the Globe and the Times, but the Times is more easily available around here and it's the same company. If I'm going on the train, I get the NY Post for some reason. I don't really like reading off my screen, I need the actual paper. I also get Oggi/La Republica weekly, it's in Italian obviously. Lots of calcio, especially on Mondays.

I don't buy newspapers. I read the Globe or Herald for free at work if someone buys it.Every day when I get home I go online to read the Irish Independent to find out what is happening at home in Ireland and I also go on the RTE television ( Irish TV )web site. Then I go to BBC.co.uk to find out what is going on over in Lizzie Land and get all the important SOCCER news from there.

I do buy footie mags. though. I subscribe to 90 and Soccer America.I also get Self mag and US News and World Report Other than that,I prefer to read books.:D.
