View Full Version : Jonathan Dos Santos at FC Barcelona [R]

It just rained on me earlier today, while I dreamt of the possibility of Gio and Jonathan Dos Santos (who will be 21 and 19(?) years old when 2010 rolls around) playing for our country together. Two young men who have been planted into FC Barcelona as possibly the two luckiest, most successful and talented youngsters Mexico has seen at their age.
Too good to be true?
I did some research. Apparently this topic had been brought up on this forum, but there had been some beef between the Dos Santos' and FMF. Arguments of this and that and money and lack of communication, shit we hear about every day.
But it made me think. Jonathan spent 2 years less than his brother did in Mexico. By the time he turns 18, he will have spent a good amount of time in Spain; will he remember Mexico? Will we be as lucky to get him as we were to get Gio?
Gio and Vela are blessings from god. But Gio, Vela, and Jonathan is going to be overkill. It just sounds too good.
I guess my question is, do you guys think Jonathan will be tempted to choose Brazil or Spain over Mexico? He will make his own decision when he turns 18

I think when he sees his family cheering Gio and Mexico on, and also I imagine he cheered his brother and el tri on in peru. I think as the little brother he looks up to him and wants to be like him. I think this family especially after the tremendous world cup win is emotionally attached to Mexico.
I put my money that both of them choose El Tri.

Well, I've heard that after the little incident in Madrid, Chucho and the federation have talked the Dos Santos once again into playing for our NT. It has become common knowledge that Gio would play with the U-20 this february, in addition it is expected that later this year Jon would join the U-17.
I'm curious to watch him play, the only thing I got are his numbers for the current season in Juvenil B, 15 games played 8 as starter 7 as sub, 1 goal. The numbers aren't really impressive, but it would be interesting to know further details, like a possible injury, or some sort of policy to rotate the players.
I guess it's only a matter of time, so far he has followed exactly the same path of his brother, if he keeps doing it, he should get promoted to Juvenil A by this summer, which means that in 1 and a half years from now Jonathan should be in the exact same position Giovanni is right now.

Actually he contributed some numbers on how he is doing right now, and all you said was something that you can only speculate on. Then again this thread is about pure speculation but then you shouldn't really shoot no one down for trying give info about the person that the thread is about.

I haven't heard anything about JOnathan having any problems with representing Mexico in the future. I know that they have an older brother who's name I don't recall who had some problems with the National Team because they didn't call him up the the sub-20. Gio said that he was considering not playing for Mexico because of the way they treated his brother but that was a long time ago. I think that if the relationship with the father is good then there should be no problem for Jonathan to choose Mexico.
Edit:The name of the older brother is Eder Dos Santos

What part of:
... after the little incident in Madrid, Chucho and the federation have talked the Dos Santos once again into playing for our NT. you didn't got?
To me is quite clear that Jonathan will play for Mexico, no reason at all to go further into Brazil and Spain, I've notice that some of you have problems accepting this, and keep making threads and comments on why the Dos Santos should and will play for Mexico.
Here's an article where Chucho Ramirez himself says that Jonathan is in the group of the U-17.

I have no reason what so ever to doubt the word of that man, and I suggest you all to do the same.
I really don't understand what motivated you to complaint about my post, to me it adresses the main topic when I say that Chucho and the federation have conviced the Dos Santos (you know, both of them) to play for Mexico, I gave you additional info on his stats this season, and added a little analysis on his career. Or what do you think that talking about Jonathan Dos Santos on a Jonathan Dos Santos thread is off the topic?
BTW, this is the only thread for Jonathan Dos Santos on BS, any previous information on him has been posted either on Gio's thread or general threads of Mexicans abroad. That's why I find my post more than appropiate since probably more people will come around here looking for info on Jon, and not only to talk about his national allegiance, a subject that gives little next no room for debate since all points out that he'll play for Mexico, or do you want 100 posts of people saying "I agree"?

Hey guys I met them both and they were super cool but they didnt talk about the national team. They just talked about How messi is over-rated and how Marqeuz is really cool.
Jonathan tells me there is "chicano" named Hugo Delarosa(came from fc dallas)playing in Juvenil A. He was born in the states and parents are Mexican from Monterrey. He was on trial for 2weeks and got signed. Anyway we are chillen and Jorge leaves early because he has to sort some stuff out with his passport(he is no longer with barca)(it was wed after they played Costa Rica) he bounces we kick around super cool!
ANyway those guys are super cool!
my pic to show you guys

Not only that but Gio wouldn't talk like that about Messi, since they were both together in the youth ranks ... they're GREAT friends ... and that pic is OLD ... it's been on Jorge or Efrain's HI5 since forever!! ...
